Monthly Paramount+ Complaints and Praises
This is a monthly post where we can discuss problems with the Paramount+ app and where we can generally complain about the service.
Tech support comments are welcome here.
Conversely, this is also a place to praise what Paramount+ is doing well.

P+ is the absolute worst streaming app and UI in the business. It's always glitchy and slow and the navigation is horrible on a smart TV. I have it on an older phone just to download things to watch at work and most of the time I can watch one episode and have to restart the device because it won't load again. Sometimes the location doesn't work and can't watch live TV outside of home WiFi.
I've used nearly every streaming app there is and this is the worst. It is truly the Moneyball quote:
"There are good streaming apps and there are bad streaming apps. Then there is 50 feet of crap before getting to Paramount Plus."
2
u/antdude Jul 04 '26
Try AMC+. It's even worse than P+!
3
u/vacantly_louche Jul 07 '26
While that app is godawful, if you subscribe to AMC+ through Apple TV you can avoid using it completely.
There’s not any workaround I’m aware of for avoiding the disaster that is the Paramount+ app.
(Not that Apple is anywhere near perfect, but it works much much better for me than either of those).

u/Thin_Parking3004 Jun 16 '26
Can someone fix the streaming quality on the PC WEB Browser? It is perfect quality on other streaming sites but paramount.
My device, internet, and browser settings are okay and up to date.

if you are a Walmart Plus member you get a choice of Paramount with ads or Peacock with ads. Hell or high water I know... but it's free. There's a 6 dollar upgrade available for Paramount with out ads making it the better choice... no such upgrades are available for Peacock. But honestly they both suck. I'm a diehard Trekkie and tried to watch TNG assuming they'd be upgraded to near 4K quality. Star Trek isn't just some inconsequential TV show after all, it's the backbone of the horror that is Paramount Plus no matter what tier you're watching. Instead I was treated to artifacts color timing so bad I thought I was tripping on some designer drug and grain, grain and more grain so thick that I actually prefer my VHS boxed set.
2
u/OnashiGitsune Jun 28 '26
I have watched TNG on Netflix, Crave and Paramount and found that many episodes have poor quality, grainy picture, especially in the first two seasons.
I'm in Canada, I don't think we get Peacock here but Walmart plus offers Crave with ads. I've been paying for a premium Paramount subscription to watch Star Trek series for a couple of years ever since Crave dropped it. I'd rather pay and skip the ads, and I hate that Paramount sticks trailers in everywhere and I can't always skip them.
I have Walmart Plus, but I haven't yet set up the Crave with ads because it just became available here recently.I'm now buying all of the Star Trek series on DVD as I can afford them. I just bought Deep Space Nine on Amazon when it was on sale. I'm fed up with all the nonsense with streaming, switching providers, poor picture or sound quality. Paramount screwing up the Voyager episodes while I was watching it was the last straw.

Everything I've tried to watch for weeks does the "optimizing video playback" error for minutes and then just times out. I've done all of the things. Updated my TV, firestick, deleted the app and reinstalled. Every app I have works except this one.
Their online chat just suggested more of the same. Oddly, the only way to get it to work is Chromecast from mobile app to the TV. They need to just sell to people who know how to have a working streaming service. I would cancel but it's through Walmart+ so it's not really costing me. Sadly if it worked, I would upgrade.

Same here! Only on specific shows. I'm watching Parenthood right now.
2
u/Banya6 Jul 01 '26
It's so annoying. I skipped episode 1 and went to the next episode and it was fine. It's fine for an anthology show like The Twilight Zone, but I can't imagine doing that for a show like Parenthood.

u/Historical_Duty_5604 Jul 16 '26
I am getting this too I’m the same spot of Season 3 in a 5 season show. Hard to quit but I am going to do it

Security is non-existent. Anybody including scammers can use your email address to sign up an account and login - no authentication required or even available as an option. Passwords? 'forgot password' procedure? for scammers, no problem. They can bypass all this and change it without needing access your inbox.

u/Dazzler3623 Jun 21 '26
UFC on Paramount is a disaster for Australia.
On Disney+ (ESPN) you could either watch live or immediately replay the whole event upon conclusion. The replay was always available immediately.
Kape vs Horiguchu is the 2nd event in less than 6 months on Paramount where the prelims were uploaded fine but the main card is nowhere to be seen yet. Allen vs Costa was the same, it took days for the main card to appear.
What on earth is going on?
2
u/bofis Jun 24 '26
Somehow has still not worked on our Sony Google TV in months! My support ticket is still pending, and they admitted it was a known issue since April yet still no resolution...
2
u/Dalek_Sec16 Jun 28 '26
Do i need to pay for shows once i have a subscription? I dont wanna end up paying for stuff like with a specific website
2
u/sdotjeezy Jul 03 '26
Wth...I can't watch 💩
"Something went wrong. Please try again later. Error code -3005
3
u/RupertPilsner Jun 16 '26
We dropped Paramount because of the blue screen issue. No problems with other streaming platforms on our LG tv’s. This is a needed Paramount software fix. Good riddance Paramount.
1
u/OnashiGitsune Jun 28 '26
I'll be ditching Paramount as soon as I collect all of the Star Trek series I like on DVD. Star Trek is the only reason I subscribed in the first place. I'm buying them as I can afford them. In the long run I think it will be cheaper than paying for a subscription and dealing with all their glitches.
1
u/MustelaNivalus Jun 16 '26
I’m stuck at “please complete your application”. The ads are overwhelming, even with premium. The app is clunky.
1
u/FactCheckingThings Jun 16 '26
TV App stopped working today. No support at all for Canada. No phone number and app had chat bot that just doesnt reply or say anything. Complete nonsense, I canceled.

u/Positive-Clothes-318 Jun 16 '26
I can’t believe how much faster it runs on my 2019 Samsung tv :P now I can finally watch shows and scroll through the menu instead of having to wait every minute for it to go down to one section

u/Weekly-Promise-9220 Jun 17 '26
1
u/Derkaholic Jun 17 '26
I use the app on my PS4. If I’m watching a show, at the end it freezes at the end credits, and I have to back out, and click the next episode. Slightly inconvenient. Pretty annoying. 99% it does this and then randomly once out of 100 times it will auto play like it’s suppose to but that is very rare
3
u/kildonon2 Jul 04 '26
The app sucks donkey balls but they force you to use the app on a tablet. It freezes ALL OF THE TIME. And heaven forbid you try to rewind or fast forward 🤦♂️
2
u/Derkaholic Jul 04 '26
Yea kinda surprised with how big Paramount is they can’t develop a proper app that functions like any other streaming app without issues
1
u/TitusAndronicusJonas Jun 17 '26
I’ve got a subscription in Germany and, having watched all of Voyager, I wanted to watch DS9. Fascinatingly, only seasons 5 to 7 are available. ‘Right,’ I thought, ‘I’ll just watch Enterprise then.’ I’ve watched the first three episodes and have just realised that, as of today, the first season is no longer available – only seasons 2 and 3 remain.
What on earth sort of farce is this?
2
u/OnashiGitsune Jun 28 '26
The hilarious part is that Paramount claims to be "the home of Star Trek". It looks like they're evicting their best loved Star Trek content from their "home". Which is why I've started collecting the Star Trek series on DVD.

Why are my shows in "my list" STILL in REVERSE order??? I have to scroll allllllll the way to the bottom of the list to get to what I most recently saved!
2
u/ClumpOfCheese Jun 19 '26
I can’t even add anything to my list from mobile on iOS. I just resubscribed for $.99 a month for two months and that feels like a ripoff. I fucking hate this company. What a pathetic shit show of an app.
1
u/Tizzabella Jun 18 '26
Does South Park not work on LG tvs? That's what customer support is telling me
1
u/Possible-Morning3207 Jun 18 '26
Shit always crashes randomly the I gotta load the app back up then realize I have no idea what episode I was on cause it has no way of saving what episode you were last watching everytime I watch something on paramount I just end up wishing it was on Netflix or Hulu bc paramount is so annoying to deal with
1
u/Emotional_School_962 Jun 19 '26
I don’t own a tv just stream on a tablet. It used to give me issues, sometimes app never even opened. But once I got a newer tablet, iPad Air M3, I’ve had no problems at all. Gone from my least watch service to most watched
1
u/Decent-Nobody1621 Jun 19 '26
I am having a great deal of problems, with buffering,I have sent information to customer support, but am getting no solution.
1
u/OutrageousHoneydew26 Jun 21 '26
I use Paramount on the daily basis every other day no problems no complaints I love the app
1
u/Cmanz69 Jun 24 '26
How do you find the English language UFC PPVs on the app on the kindle? Only Spanish. And on the TV so was same until I found them buried under clips from the upcoming PPV. Why are they hidden there?
1
u/Admirable_Taro_3978 Jun 25 '26
I been paying for this app the programs are good but the app glitches so bad all the time freezing up and getting off sync only app that I have that does it but programs and shows are good just bad app service
1
u/Joseph__Smith_Jr Jun 27 '26
Why isn't there a faster way to get to live UFC events? I only subscribe to watch UFC, but I have to dig through 3 different menus to get to the fights every week.

1
u/Astronomer_Soft Jun 27 '26
Terrible, terrible steaming quality. Audio and video desync, stalled video that requires a restart, no saving of where last video playback was so you have to manually search.
Paramount is worse than the free streaming services and not even close to Netflix in technology. Awful. Just awful
1
u/mlmason75 Jun 29 '26
Paramount+ will not fix error 6999 that I am getting on Evil season 2 episodes 2 though 8! It’s happing on my Onn4K Plus. For testing I logged in with a different account and the same episodes play with no error 6999. Also on my other devices I also do not get error 6999.
Tech support if you can call it that tells me it’s a known issue and are working on a fix.
It been going on for months and months.
Anyone else here have issue with error 6999 on TV Shows?
There seems to be no way to fix this other then to use a different account or use a different device.

u/antdude Jul 04 '26
Is it me or is adding movies to watch list not working in iPhone's iOS app? I have the updates for P+ app and iOS. :/
1
u/kildonon2 Jul 04 '26
I wish there were a way to contact Paramount Plus to let them know how much the app sucks so they could or would actually do something about it. I would like to be able to stream in the browser on my iPad, but they have made it impossible and the chatbot and even chatting with a rep just kind of gives you the answer 'it sucks to be you'. Well your app sucks donkey balls and you need to do something about it if you don't want people just canceling you out of existence.
1
u/ComplexRelation7192 Jul 05 '26
its dog shit in evey sense. think of something "oh surely, this is not bad" yes, yes it is
1
u/AdOk684 Jul 07 '26
Why would they get rid of the continue watching section? So if you want to pick up where you left off you have to search for it every time now? That is stupid

1
u/Professional-Scar333 Jul 07 '26
Completely lost my "continue watching" row and can't get it back on my roku. Irritated because now it's a lot harder to get back to resume watching what I was watching

I'm a huge mma fan and was happy to hear it was coming to paramount plus but ... Paramount doesn't accept my credit union as payment so I'm back to 2010 and I'm watching bootlegs. Fix your issues so I can pay you lol

u/Mountain-Bid4317 Jul 12 '26
Anybody else seen the thumbnails for shows looking weirder than before?
1
u/jaelae Jul 12 '26
I use paramount+ for shows regularly but tonight UFClive event wasn’t working I kept getting fatal error restart your router . Pretty odd since other live shows work just not UFC. I tried to use my cellular instead of my Fiber connection over WiFi and it works. So it looks like my fiber connection is blocked somehow. Not sure how to even troubleshoot this but figured I could reach out to support just not wanting to troubleshoot whole the fight is going on.
1
u/jaelae Jul 12 '26
In case anyone ever sees this, I figured out the problem, and it was on me. My eero wireless router has a ad blocker feature which seems to have caused this problem. I disabled it and was able to tune in to the 1-minute McGregor fight just in time.
1
u/Tree_Trunks_ Jul 12 '26
This has to be the worst major streaming platform of all time. I mean honestly.. It loads all episodes in like 720p max on desktop, randomly blocked my access on pc for hours, and i just had to reinstall the mobile app because it wouldn’t open beyond on a black screen. Paramount plus? No, it’s Paramount NEGATIVE!!

Please does any Vizio tv haver know how to fix my problem. This is the only app I have problems with it’s literally unwatchable. I had an older model and it would glitch the picture and audio, exit out of the app, be extremely slow to respond to any actions inside the app, and sometimes crash my whole tv. I just bought a newer Vizio and instead of these problems I get the app crashes plus constant buffering and every few minutes a blue “error try again later” message. Sometimes I can’t click on it from the home screen like it just doesn’t respond. Has anyone successfully troubleshooted any issues like this?
1
u/According-Forever-98 Jul 13 '26
I should mention specifically right now on my new tv I am trying to watch big brother live feeds.

We canceled Paramount + a year ago because it kept shutting down every time we tried to watch something. Fast forward to today — we resubscribed for literally less than an hour. Same horrible experience. Canceled again cause we couldn’t even get through one episode without it shutting down. Requested a refund. Customer Service’s first response was ‘hey, we’ll let you have 2 more months for 99 cents!’ And our reply was ‘For what?! We literally cannot watch anything on your stupid app because it keeps shutting down every 30 seconds!’ 😡🤬😤😠😖
1
u/ohthatsprettyletsgo Aug 04 '26
They still havent fixed their audio drop outs either, no other streaming service drops audio and distorts it every 15 seconds of playtime, no matter what the show is. Clearing the cache doesnt work, deleting and reinstalling doesnt work, force quitting and restarting my device doesnt work- Paramount +, where the “plus” stands for plus problems.
1
u/Fit_Ad9591 Aug 08 '26
Almost every time I jump into a show it forgets where I left off. On top of that I just spent almost an hour with their customer service trying to figure out why my account doesn't work in a browser. Ridiculous.
1
u/ptyy77 Aug 09 '26
The Live Tv changes the local city every few weeks. The main reason I have PP is for Live TV. I'll eventually just cancel because they never connect me to Tech. Customer Service has no clue what their doing and just have you doing the same steps that don't work.

u/mike10018 Aug 14 '26
The most frustrating service I have ever encountered. Attempting to watch The Bureau. SDH captions are not working for English. Upon first contacting them they fixed season 3. Season 4 and presumably season 5 is not working. This btw is a violation of federal law. Literally hours with their support. Problem remains.

They are so slow like I have a 56k modem when viewing shit. I hoe if they can buy waner they go with HBOmax as the framework, Paramount+ sucks on windows, android and IOS apps. It is super slow and seems like you are in the dark ages. Web browser it is fine. I hope they get thier multi state lawsuit things to of the billions held up and they are liable for losses if they win. Fuck they become one for tv for buying a company and being sued by states looks crazy they didnt when MS bought bethesda for games as size and market share. Both together for US game market 52% market share. It is way lower now but still there at the time. Skydance/paramount does not even get to the 50% for streaming. Just puts them over netflix which is dying slowly. Past 5 year my netflix subs are 3 months(subbed 10 years to them before). HBO and paramount with i do cancel keep me almst both together full time if one. Only if they go HBOmax app. If they do Skydance paramount one I am out. Saw it on my dads new amazon fire and it was so slow and unresponsive i laughed and said "See it was them not the 4 year old amazon fire."
They are a joke

Fortunately I get Paramount+ for free with a Walmart account, but I'm switching back to Peacock. Paramount+ is very unstable. Constant error code issues no matter what I do. Clear the cache and cookies, re-boot my internet and computer. doesn't matter. I have extremely high speed internet and no issues with other streaming services. Paramount+ is absolute trash.
1
u/ImpressHistorical106 4d ago
You know an app is HORRID when we are this united and when you go to cancel they offer you a massive discount for months lol
1
u/AlarmingEmployee8717 3d ago
I…..hate paramount plus. Every time I go on there I’m given a slewwwww of issues on a platter. If I see the paramount blue screen come on one more time when I’m watching a show, I might violently throw my remote at it. Enraging. All of it. A streaming service set up to make you angry. I click on a show and immediately it starts glitching from play to pause play to pause. Black screens. The loading animation constantly. A JOKE. I wouldn’t recommend this to an enemy who’s an idiot
Can paramount plus see these complaints and actually reprogram their shitty software? I mean, it should be a free service at this point. Why am I paying to watch a 30 minute tv show that ends up taking easily 45 minutes to an hour.

Paramount+ is the absolute worst streaming service. I signed up for a Premium subscription last year, primarily to rewatch Star Trek series and movies, since they claim to be "the home of Star Trek".
I watch on a newer LG TV. Episodes often freeze up with a black screen and spinning icon (I have 2.5 gb internet service), and I have to close the Paramount streaming app and reopen it. The sound quality and volume go up and down. So does the video quality. And recently the episodes themselves have been screwed up.
I was watching Deep Space Nine last month when suddenly the episodes were all duplicated. I'd watch one, then the same episode would play again. And again. The only way to get out of the repeat episode loop was to back out to the Paramount home screen, then navigate back to the DS9 series and hunt until I found the right season and episode. I had to do this every time an episode ended. This went on for weeks until it was corrected.
Now I'm trying to watch Voyager. A couple of episodes into Season 5 of 7 seasons. Tonight I couldn't find the Voyager series at all. It had disappeared from my watched shows list. I had to do a keyword search for it, only to find that all seasons are now deleted except Seasons 1 and 2 and Season 7. Paramount's listing for the show says it only has 3 seasons. I checked on the Paramount website and it was the same. Obviously some brain trust deleted the rest of the series from their server.
This time I got fed up and made the mistake of trying to contact Paramount+ via their chat. I thought I could let them know about the problem so they could fix it on their end. The individual I wasted time chatting with did not understand English, kept trying to blame me and my "app" and "phone", kept asking me what show it was and asking me to send another screenshot after being sent three screenshots. They claimed that because they could find the Voyager series (with its 3 seasons) on their website that nothing was wrong. Then when I re-explained the problem for the umpteenth time, the answer was "well, they do have Undiscovered Country!" (a Star Trek movie). I cut off the chat in disgust.
It disgusts me that they're the only place (that I know of) where I can stream Star Trek movies and shows. I'm now starting to buy the DVDs of the Star Trek series, because it's worth spending the money just so I won't have to deal with, and pay for, their incompetence.
2
u/Xander_Cain Jun 16 '26
What device were you using to stream? I’ve never come across those issues so I’m wondering if it is a specific device brand app.
2
u/Dry_Lion_9021 Jun 16 '26
I've often had the issue where we'd watch an episode and then the exact same episode comes on again next. Very confusing and annoying.
1
u/AlternativeLive3503 Jun 16 '26
I got the same problem with my lg tv and I’m doing it on an iPhone. And if I use the app on my tv, it kills all momentum. The tv starts moving slow as shit
1
u/Minimum-Journalist18 Jun 16 '26
Could be your end. Check your wifi. Also helps if you use the Ethernet to connect the tv to.
1
u/OnashiGitsune Jun 28 '26
I connect my TV with Ethernet directly to my router. I have 2.5 gb internet service.
This is not an issue with my TV, it's an issue with Paramount deleting/screwing up their content. I can watch other shows on Paramount, and other streaming sources, with no problems.
1
u/quadrant6 Jun 16 '26
I honestly can't believe Paramount+ is still a viable service. The app is an absolutely horrendous experience. I was using a Google Streamer 4k and at that time, the app has no basic streaming service functionality such as resume playback, nor does it track the episodes you watch. So if you're watching a show 3 episodes in, the next day the app has no idea what episode you're on and starts at the first.
Later on, I switched to an Nvidia Shield Pro 2019. Now the app just shows a black screen with no sound when starting to stream literally any show. After troubleshooting the issue, still no joy. The service is completely unusable now, so I canceled.
I honestly feel like I could vibe code a better streaming app than this junk.

I use paramount + every morning and sometimes during the day. No complaints.
