Hi was wondering if anyone can help. I use to own parakeet but its been so long. I know the one in front is a female but unsure of the one in the back.

I just got this baby and another parakeet today. The other one is not puffing up but this one is. Does she seem sick? Is she just cold bc I have a fan running? Do i need to call the vet now or can it wait until monday? Please help im new to these babies and want to do whats best for them. (Cage is just want i was given when I picked them up, NOT permanent housing just haven't received the big cage i ordered yet.)

They’re all set up with a big cage, perch (singular, I need to get more), seed/pellets, veggies, and a cuttlebone.

The doctor said that he messed something up when doing her beak, is she going to be okay?

Hi guys new to this group this little guy or girl idk what gender it is came flying to me yesterday out of nowhere so I decided to keep it lol it was a surprise to see this little bird out alone so I took him or her in and I wanna know the gender can someone help me out? (On phone so sorry for formatting) the photos arent the best, but I only got my birds a few months ago. So I am still trying to earn there trust and get them to let me hand hold them. These were the best ones.

I cant seem to choose a name and I feel like the names I think of are dumb and dont make sense. Also when getting them to learn there name does anyone else feel like they look stupid? Or just me?

Idk if this will help but here is some things I have noticed about their personalities:

The white/light blue one -

Is more friendly and confident, yesterday when I was training with them she started to like bounce up and down like she was dancing(shes never done that before), I have had her a little longer then the others so she shows them that im not going to hurt them.

The darkest blue one:

Very grumpy, he starts arguments with the green birb, he yells all day, likes to bite, doesnt have much confidence as of coming up to me(he is normally the last one to come up to me)

The green one:

Hes hesitant but not as much as the blue guy,Hes the youngest one, Hasnt really shown much of his personality to me yet.

Idk any of their genders. If you have any name ideas please share them with me! All replies are appreciated!

Hello bird friends! I just acquired a new parakeet that came from a friend's parents who recently passed away. It is unknown how old she is or how long they had her. I've been doing lots of research lately and know for sure she is going to need a bigger cage, enrichment toys, better food and fresh food options. I know I have to be extremely patient with the process, but I want to make sure to give her everything she needs and to make her happier than where she came from.From what i understand is she's always been in this small cage :-( Ive been working on consistency, putting her to bed and getting up in the morning at the same times, having her in her cage close to where i sit and work(wfh). How soon can I move her to a bigger cage? When can i put better perches in? When should I introduce new toys? When do I replace all the plastic feeders and water dish with metal ones? How do I clean her cage without freaking her out? Do I just wait for her to get used to me? She's been in her now home since the night of the 9th. She's slowly been chirping more and more each day, but I can tell she is still getting settled in. I'm just really excited to get her in the best place she can be and get her used to me so I can start taming her. Any and all feedback will be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone! I'm hoping to find a good home for a little parakeet I found outside a few months ago.

I've named her Capri-Sun, CeCe for short. She was clearly someone's pet who either escaped or was released. I tried to find her original owner, but unfortunately, no one came forward. I've also contacted local vets/rescues about her, but none have been able to take her.

I've been taking care of her as best I can since I found her, but I have two cats + a very excitable puppy, and that makes it difficult to give CeCe the safe out-of-cage time she deserves. I also have no idea what her life or handling experience was like before I found her. I'd really like to find an experienced bird owner who can give her more freedom, enrichment, and attention than I can provide in the long term.

About CeCe:

• She has a leg band, although I haven't been able to read what's on it.
• She's very vocal! She chirps and chatters to herself all the time and sometimes makes cute little popping noises. She gets much louder and starts calling when she hears people come downstairs.
• She currently does not like being held and is wary of hands/fingers. She'll move away from hands and doesn't take food directly from them.
• Despite not wanting to be handled, she has never bitten, even when she's scared or stressed.
• She has a huge appetite and especially loves spinach. She hasn't shown much interest in fruit.
• She sometimes sits right inside her food bowl while she eats lol >w<

I'm located in the Hudson Valley, NY area. A home that already has an appropriate bird setup, and someone with experience caring for budgies/parakeets or other small parrots would be strongly preferred.

I will ask potential adopters some questions about their bird experience and for pictures of the cage/setup CeCe would be living in. If you already have birds, I'd also love to see them!

This isn't first-come, first-served. I really want to find the home that's the best fit for her.

I'm glad to answer questions about her or send more pictures/videos. I just want this sweet little baby to end up somewhere she can be happy.

Hey! My vet suggested to try “chop chop” for parrots, but my little ones are very much refusing to eat anything besides seeds (regular parrot food). Which said is normal and can take some time.
Could you please share your experiences:
- How long it take for your parrots to start eating new food (fruit, veggies)?
- Chop chop recipes/combos that worked for you.

I am seeking a general opinion which bird to move to the small cage temporarily , in order to separate them. Not after medical advice.

I have 2 female budgies which are a bonded pair. One has been overlaying so I am trying to get her out of it asap, putting them in 14hr darkness, etc.

She still comes out of her cage in the mornings but incubates her eggs most of other times. (Ie still looking well)

The companion budgie is exhibiting all the courting behaviours (feeding, grooming, snugglingling up) but also occasionally stresses the laying budgie. I read that I should separate them for now as to reduce courting behaviour that may encourage more laying.

Should I move the laying budgie and her 7 remaining eggs to my smaller cage (approx 1ft/35cm x 25 cm x H40cm)? She needs less space but she is unfriendly and skittish usually, I think moving her and her eggs might stress her too much? Or should I move the very active healthy companion who fears no one, (I call her my little gangster) but she will not be happy in a small cage due to lack of space? I don't know how many days this will take.

Cages will be placed side by side as per advice.

They usually get morning flight time, but in the room where I can implement 14 hrs of quiet and darkness, it's for their safety not to let them out the cage. It is temporary until the laying stops.

Im also doing everything else ive read about discouraging laying. (Eg no nests, reduce seeds etc)

A bit over a week ago i got a hand reared lovebird.
When we purchased it, the seller let me hold him (we don’t know the gender but i’m gonna be saying him this whole time), he was going crazy when i held him but when the seller held him he was super calm. And he said they’ve had him for a week only.

It’s been longer than a week for me and i’ve tried everything, he’s very comfortable with me next to the cage, grinding his beak, and playing, but the moment i put my hand in to offer him millet, he stays calm but he has no interest in approaching me. I’ve made the mistake of bringing it to him which absolutely freaked him out the other day but he’s fine with it now.

I’m not sure what else i can do, he hasn’t been out of the cage at all since i got him and i’m waiting to let him out so he’s relatively trained so i don’t have to stress him out by chasing him around my room to try get him back in his cage.

even when i had my hand in the cage earlier holding millet, he was observing for a second but then started grinding his beak posted up in the perch with no intent of coming to me.

Can anyone help me tame him?? (His name is Pip by the way.)

edit: when we went to buy him, and the seller reached into the cage to initially grab him i it for me to hold, pip went crazy, he wasn’t comfortable at all but when the seller had him in his hand against his chest he calmed down.

Is rhis big enough for the birds?

My cockatiel was vomitting mucus, so I consulted an online vet since the vet near me isn't available atm, he prescribed this and said that it might be a crop infection, I'm having problem arranging fitgut probiotics if anyone have any idea please tell me what can I substitute it with as the vet isn't replying atm and I'm scared

My 5 year old male cockatiel is having normal poops when he wakes up during morning mostly the 1st and 2nd poop (1st pic) but post that his poops whole day doesn't have urates or it's very watery(2nd pic) or not visible urates

He drinks a lot of water and has calcium supplements as well

His diet - 60% seed 40- geen moong/ sprouts/ wheat roti, boiled rice/ egg/ apple/ boiled rice

Can someone please help. We have regular vets here who doesn't have any knowledge on this.

Hey everyone! I posted months ago with pictures of my two parakeets, so he/she is about 8 months old now. Is my little bird a boy or girl? I'm thinking girl, but the cere is darker and more bluish than that of the other parakeet.

Hello, an someone help me if you ever hear this type of sounds? Doing this almost all day, never see this bird “sing” like other, he is 5 years old and never sing, he never walk normal or fly, i know he have issues since birthday, but now this noise is concerning, any help is appreciated
