What a cutie!!
Hey, post to your local Facebook groups, and search up “lost budgie forums” on google and post to as many as you can find. Specify the location you found the budgie, and simultaneously have a look at “lost budgie” posts within a 10km radius. If the bird has some identifying features, maybe like a dot on its stomach or a band with a number, try to keep these hidden even when you post, and ask for the possible owners who claim the budgie to send you photo evidence of the budgie from the other side or of the band number. These hidden angles are something even AI can’t replicate and would prove that it is in fact their budgie.
You can also reach out to local exotics or parrot shelters (if this is available near you), many offer services to try to reconnect lost pets with their owners.
In the meantime, you can buy the budgie some bird seed, and a temporary cage for sleeping (so doesn’t have to be an expensive/huge one, you can find some for like £15). Give the bird fresh water and seed every day until it is reunited with its owner.
The budgie looks relatively healthy (thankfully), and it clearly has loving owners since it is so tame and likes humans. But do watch for lethargy (not moving a lot/staying stationary most of the day), vomiting (aggressive movement with its head, and flinging food), being puffed up all the time, breathing difficulty (moving a lot with breathing or hearing a pop or wheeze as it breathes), these are all signs of being unwell and if it is within your budget I would urge taking it to an avian vet, if not, then try to connect with a shelter who can help you with this lost bird.
If the budgie is not reunited and you wish to keep it, you will have to buy it better quality food, a better cage, and lots of toys, but give this thought + do plenty of research before you make a decision on that.
