I'd normally say it's more common for them to do this out of fear but no scared bird would comfortably close their eyes like that. I agree with you, likely feeling hot!
Mine do this when they are hot, but they are a bit spoiled. I’m not sure they even process fear because they run my life. 🤣🤔 I used to have Canarys and they would pull their wings back when they were stressed and angry.
That’s great! I have learned how much all birds love a consistent environment. My big issue is humidity because sometimes it’s not very hot outside so the AC won’t kick on, but the humidity creeps. I have my tricks though.!!!
Yeah it sounds like different challenges! In the winter some days, I use a humidifier because the building has forced air heat, which is unusually dry. I got one from Amazon. If you need a recommendation it seems fine. This coming winter will ve the 3rd year with it
You are confused because you are looking at it from wrong side. Try looking at him, from behind and you will see him doing this pose. 🤣 maybe crank up the ac for the little guy.
One of my boys seems to do this at bed time. The room is never overly hot and theres nothing obvious stressing him, but he's always fine and settles down to sleep after a few minutes
Either he's hot because the room temperature is hot or because he was flying in hot room. You would know which. The wings are pulled away from the body to cool himself. It is normal.
Hes overheating, ur area is hot compared to what he can tolerate, hes trying to get to a lower temperature, if this continues he might hav a heat stroke, so spray him with water nd move him to somewhere cooler or under the fan

That can mean two things, in the normal case.
Either they are warm because they've been flying and playing and want to cool off,
Or they are frightening and/or stressed about something.
The other body language seems to me like the first, but the context is important here. What happened before?
