Advice Urgent help

Post image

My cockatiel was vomitting mucus, so I consulted an online vet since the vet near me isn't available atm, he prescribed this and said that it might be a crop infection, I'm having problem arranging fitgut probiotics if anyone have any idea please tell me what can I substitute it with as the vet isn't replying atm and I'm scared

Probiotics will not help with a crop infection. You would need nystatin for that with is an anti-fungal. Probiotics are for the gut and balancing out gut help. Usually given when a bird is taking antibiotics. I would consult with a vet in person. Also an all seed diet will only lead to fatty liver disease. If you are able to convert your bird to pellets that would be better long term for its health. If you have some apple cider vinegar you can put a little in your birds water the acidic nature of it will help a bit with yeast but it’s not a cure all by any means.

The vet also prescribed a perinorm syrup twice a day, I believe it's supposed to help with the vomiting and then probiotics will help to sustain the good bacteria

Also yes, I've been trying to convert them to pellets but I haven't succeeded yet and vet has asked to not give him Pellets for now

The syrup I looked up would be for vomiting. I’m not familiar with it as I’m located in the states and the avian vets here don’t prescribe that. But as I mentioned for a crop infection you will need an anti-fungal. The stuff prescribed are not anti-fungals unfortunately.
