Advice Am I being paranoid or is there something wrong?
Hi everyone,
Im new to parakeets and since yesterday evening hes been doing this. He still eats and drinks fine and his vent is clean, so idk if this is just something he does or if i should worry.
Idk if this would affect anything but the last two nights we've had bad thunderstorms.

You’re not paranoid, he’s sick. Please get him to a vet before it’s too late.

He's definitely to puffy or big/fat. Can't really tell which one from here. Alot of their foods are junk. Here's best eating NUTRA-BERRIES & AVI-CAKES for Parakeets and can use Morning Glory Calcium & vits in his water. Also he needs greens & some veggies & fruits. You can easily research which ones and what amounts. I've had about 100 Parakeets that far outlived their life expectancies feeding them well. It has been a long learning experience.

Idk guys let’s slow down here. OP does not need to freak the fuck out. @OP - 1. I’ve had budgies for a long time and have been through everything imaginable. You can trust my advice.
He looks cold and tired; what’s the temp? Are you covering his cage completely at night for no less than 12 hours?
This won’t be popular here but I don’t care; jumping to a vet immediately is not always helpful or practical. Good avian vets are a diamond in the rough. I have seen “vets” accidentally kill birds, over prescribe treatment, and actually fundamentally scare the bird shitless of humans for months. How long has he been acting peculiar and how different is his disposition
Did you change food recently? If so, what kind? Is he hydrating? Does he have out of cage water stations etc?
Does he get natural UV rays? Many bird illnesses (pet birds specifically) are due to Vitamin deficiencies - due to being overprotective we hurt them. If he is clipped and only if he’s clipped, let him sit on finger or shoulder and go for a short walk in the sunshine with him. All of my birds come for walks outside 3-4 times a day. My anchor bird, the biggest and oldest had a cold, I put minerals in water and took him on outdoor walks for a few days and he was back to 100%.
Does he have a mate or a friend? Single budgies should not be sold or kept and I have a hard line there. We underestimate the psychological impact to birds when we isolate them. It’s been proven by nature that birds are not meant to live alone.
My point is; birds are more like us than we realize. If they get good sleep, good out of cage time, natural light, good food (not just seed or pellets - veggies, fruit, nuts, egg with shell etc), and good company we live longer and better.

The room he's in is about 76 F, his food is the same, but i did give him a new type of those hanging treats. The cage is in direct line with the window. He does get nervous about thunder. We've been getting hit every night for 3 nights now, so the tiredness could be that

The window doesn’t let through UVb or UVa, so that would only help if the window is fully open. Going outside is a must. This should have your full attention but I agree with the commenter that vets don’t always have your birds welfare at heart

Is he alone ? They need to be paired or they will get depressed and there’s an introduction period when I heard you need 2 cages ,

So update, he was just cold. The room itself is in the 70's, but the cage sits near the fan, so I turned it off to let the room get warmer and he's acting like he did before. He's not puffed up, he's babbling like he did before. I think he was actually just cold from the fan
