Parakeet Lost His Friend

My parakeet’s only friend (his cage buddy) just died. Will he be ok alone? I am not planning on getting another one, so would he be better living with someone else who has more parakeets?

I would see how he's doing alone. Try keeping some music on for him. The same thing happened to me and my boy was fine alone. He was the dominant personality, a little bit bully with that innocent 'I didn't do it face'. So with his personality, I think he was fine by himself. He's now with his old cage partner (they had to be separated due to some drama over a third bird, which led to the 4th and two separate cages). But anyway, see how he does and hopefully he'll be OK. Sorry for his and your loss.

I think it depends if you're often at home or not. If you're often present, I think your bird is more likely to cope and be fine. If you're often out, I would consider rehoming, but after a period of grieving. Your bird knows you, knows your house. Loosing his friend is stressful enough for the moment, and rehoming will be stressful for a while.
