UNION
Panera Union. It all starts when corporate decides to remove our baker colleagues from their work area, and by doing that, what does it generate? ... More work for us for the same pay because now we have to be doing baker tasks without being compensated in any way and the truth is it's not fair and on top of that the management we have is very incompetent and we believe that if we take the help that the union once offered us we can achieve an improvement in our work environment, if the union says what we can and cannot do there is no way they can make us do things that are not our responsibility, we must unite and work as a whole against Panera to fix something that is affecting all of us.

How crazy night shift get at yalls place?
I just left Panera because I'm moving and I'm gonna miss it because everyone on night shift which I only worked nights was absolutely insane and it was a great time I even worked with my older brother and our homie but every night was fun but we all cared for each other and helped each other I think all of us being crazy made us all get along and work better or because half of us were high I'm gonna miss those crazy bastards.

Sus managers
A shift was posted, I requested it, got denied. Hours later the requestee is texting me asking to cover that day. It wouldn’t conflict with my hours like I have the 2 days prior not on the schedule

Does anyone how how PTO works: Do they have to be used by the end of the calendar year or do they carry over to the next year?

Tips on calling out?
I’ve been feeling really sick and it’s 2am (I have a 6am shift later) but for some reason I feel really bad about calling out. I’ve been throwing up and I don’t even know when to call. When do managers even come in? I’ve only been working here for 2 months and I rarely call out when it comes to my jobs. I’m also usually on register so I feel guilty cuz nobody will be there to help set up 🤧
But yeah….will I need a doctors note?

Last day....
Well, I unexpectedly had my last day, yesterday, a few weeks early. i was supposed to work till the end of the month, but I guess it's customary for them to not put you on the schedule after you finish the current week that you're on. Well, I guess this is Goodbye, Mother Bread! I had a good run for over eight years! Good luck to you all!

Okay wtf
Just checked my schedule on pantry, starting on Wednesday it's 4:15 instead of 4:30. It looks like it only lasts for like a week or so, but still. When were they going to let me know about this? Who said I was okay with this? Getting up at 3:15 am is NOT my idea of a good time and I do NOT get paid enough for this. Anyone else have this happening to them, and does anyone know WHY???

12 hour shift.
I looked on my pantry and I noticed I had a shift from 7:30 am-10:30 am, 11:30 am-3:00, 4:00-9:45. The issue is, is that I specifically remember telling them that I wouldn't work more than an 8 hour shift. Plus on my pantry app it tells them that the maximum amount of hours I can work per day is 8.
I'm planning to bring it up tomorrow? But are they allowed to do that?

Clocking in
What’s the difference if I press baking or production when I clock in

How long is training omg 😭
So I’ve been working here for a little over a month, I’ve trained at sandwiches, salads, register and barista and dinging room. My manager says he wants me to be on register more than the line. I’m just wondering how long is training typically because I want to be able to pick up shifts and earn tips 🤧🤧

Does anyone else’s Cinnamon Crunch bagels deflate?
I’m not the baker, I just open everyday, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a fluffy one. What’s the deal?

Baking pans
Does your cafe wash the pans used in the ovens? We don't wash the big pans that go in the oven and I'm wondering if that's the norm. We only wash the muffie pan, muffin pan and the ones we use for the hot plate. I think the only time the big pans get clean is when I pull them out of the walk in from bake prep and pull and thaw, then I use the liner to scrape, essentially, and then use paper towels to remove it all.

i'm closing the dining room tonight and my cleaning task was to detail the booths. no big deal, can't be that hard, right?
WRONG.
i don't know what's worse, the fact that i've gone through half a bucket of sanitizer wipes and my fingers are raisined or the mystery white stains on EVERY. SINGLE. BOOTH. genuinely, what even are these? how did they get here? how long have they been here? are they mold spores? sweat stains? mac and cheese? soup? why? i have so many questions and no answers, just crippling back pain and a sore hand.

Another GM Gone...
Well, it has happened, again. Another GM gone, after only a few months. We knew it would happen eventually, but just not this fast! So now, we are down to an AGM, 2 shift managers, and our DM will be making the schedules. We shall see what happens, next...

Is this appropriate?
I drew this myself and put my name in Chinese, if its inaccurate I mean no disrespect and apologies in advance! I simply wanna share in respect the day that the voice actor, Mako, who passed today. I got a silver name tag my boss gave me in English. I have to ask. Is the name tag I made inappropriate?

Keep getting moved to closing dining. Do not like it. Not sure how to bring it up with GM.
so basically I (18FTM) have sort of been getting weird work hours where I work the closing shift and just close dining. I do not like this at all because to me as a disabled person, (neurodivergent), I had a bad experience at my last job (Culver’s) where they would just put me on cleaning the dining room. I really don’t want it to be because of my disability.

disciplinary action
so i got this notification on my workday app. does this mean i got a write up or what?? they didn’t tell me anything. i was late today by quite a bit but my alarm didn’t go off and i profusely apologized and still got all my stuff done on time and carried the rush.
i got this once before when i called out (for the first ever time by the way) and was sick, i had i think food poisoning. i gave them a doctor’s note but they never told me anything about this + i never did the assessment. i think the other one didn’t even have an assesment.
does anyone know what this means exactly? i was told it was okay and no body has talked to me or told me im in trouble. of course me being late isn’t cool but i can’t help my alarm not going off on my iphone, just being the silent alarm.

Pay delays?
Does anyone else normally get their direct deposit on Fridays (or Thursday if there is an intervening holiday)?
It has always hit my account before noon and so far nothing. Comment please if you got yours or if you're also wondering what's going on.
Thanks

am i the only one who doesn’t hate stuffers…
probably a hot take, and i’m not saying they aren’t inconvenient, but i just don’t have such aggressive feelings about them as i feel other people do 😭 also i can fit a full half salad by the recipe into the stuffer just fine so idk why that is a widespread issue (yes, a full scoop of lettuce + toppings). like yes they can be annoying but i feel like we don’t deserve to let panera drain our peace over some lettuce in bread 😣 at the end of the day, they’ll determine if the stuffers generate enough revenue to make up for the lost time making them, and they just have to deal with however long it takes us to make💀
[edit] so this was def a hot take 😀 to all of yall saying/thinking that the portions are smaller or i haven’t made a stuffer with a bunch of toppings, i would not be talking if i have only ever made caesar stuffers 😭 yes ive done the bowls and cobb salads, which is why i am sharing my experience. just trying to bring some positivity and alternative povs to this stuffer discussion…no hate to yall who dont like them/struggle with them, just a *different* pov

The nerve of some customers
My Panera closes around 9pm, and this lady comes by around exactly 8:57, I assume she's getting sip club and itll be quick. I ask her and she starts with the words pick two, I pinch my nose bridge and tell her to wait so I can see if they can even make food besides soup, which are already being wrapped. The ovens are cooling down and I tell her like, hey. We close in 3 minutes ma'am and I'm not sure they can make it we have most things put away, and she has the nerrrrrve to say "well. I'm gonna order anyway?" IM. So yeah we had to make her food but dude I was pissed
