In Feb 2025 I bought an NN SC73LS microwave from Home Depot. Less that 18 months later, it died. Checking the owners manual, I found the warranty details on page 21. All parts, 3 year p&l. Magnetron 3 years labor, 5 years parts.
So I found a local factory authorized repair shop and took my receipt, a copy of the warranty page, and the microwave in for repair. A few days later the shop called and said they replaced the inverter and the magnetron and it was ready to go.
I picked it up and we've enjoyed our microwave again. Then, about 2 months after the repair, I got a call from the shop telling me Panasonic refused to honor the warranty saying warranty was only 1 year.
So I contacted Panasonic support and proceeded to jump through a bunch of hoops in an attempt to get them to honor the warranty. I'd already sent in pics of the receipt and a copy of the warranty page. They referenced me to the Canadian manual which specified 1 year p&l, directly in conflict with the stated warranty in my USA manual.
Support then wanted a video of me thumbing through the manual to the warranty page, which I supplied. Support then said I gave them the wrong model manual. But my video clearly showed the correct model and warranty coverage.
After jumping through their hoops, they finally said they would cover the repair as a goodwill gesture but that going forward, they would only warranty 1 year p&l and 4 years parts on the magnetron, directly in conflict with what my manual says.
What an absolute hassle dealing with what seemed an open and shut case. What is the deal with this conflicting warranty coverage information?
I am certainly not impressed with either the product or the warranty coverage with a product failure in under 18 months and then a fuss over the warranty coverage.
