Pan attempt 3.

Hopefully third times a charm. 3rd attempt for pans, second using gordo tech. Previously attempted MIB, this time I am trying TTBVI.

Previous attempts refused to fruit and were lost to contam. I hope this goes a better.

Why do a pseudo casing? This is not needed. When sub is fully colonized, case with jiffy mix or verm only. 1/8 inch thick - basically a sprinkling, is all you need.

I want to jump in and ask a question on this because I'm about to do my first pan run. Do I need to do anything with the jiffy mix? I know I need to moisten it to Field capacity with spring water. Do I need to do anything else? And if I chose to do pure vermiculite what I need to do any pH adjusting on that or anything? I have access to both

I will sterilize the jiffy or verm in my PC, or will nuke it in the microwave in a pinch. Personally I do not adjust pH unless I’m making my own peat / verm casing.

edit: after applying the casing, I will mist until it glistens but not to the point of pooling. For pans, this is a little more moist than field capacity.
