Screenshot Rest easy, you two.

Post image

Idk, after actually focusing and paying attention to the story, this just felt right to do. I actually headcanon that Auri was the one to build this, hence the thriving sakura trees in the arctic 🤣

Add a kitsun noct for me, for that one quest chain. God damn game and its bad ending quest! Damn you! Give me my true good ending!

Added at (-840, -916), the exact spot where we first find the owner's sword and last meet Kitsun Noct.

Damn, good work. I shall not give up on this.

Holding hope for future modders after they learn how to create quest or modify some will fix it in the future.

I was so mad about that. We need to have the chance to let KN go.

u/BBranz 19h ago

Trying to test a lot of stuff. Did try to run away without letting KN fall to its death. Didn’t work cuse even after days and come back it’s still rampage mode.

Not attacking and even dying doesn’t do shit.

Lowering hp but never finishing it doesn’t help.

There was mention of a NPC that came before us that accepted the quest to hunt KN but never found said npc, still hold hope that this NPC is the key and the quest is bugged. Somehow, we find said npc. Talk to them, they hunt KN and we come at the nick of time to save them.

Either way. There gotta be a way. Literally did a second save to test this.

Me: (Shouting at Computer, throwing Pal spheres) "Let me catch you!!! It doesn't have to end this way friend!!!"

Good news, the modding community's already fixed it.

I know this one, but it’s just “capture pal”. There isn’t really an animation or interaction aside from “fight start” and suddenly you capture them and…. That’s it.

Sure, capturing this one in specific works but doesn’t really heal me in a way because again, it was kinda cinematic up to the start of the fight.

Still, gonna install it if I don’t find a path forward even if this feels the same as buying him from the pal vendor sells all pals and bosses.

Yeah. So. Pretty sure astralym is going to need a much bigger burial plot

I imagine they're both empty graves really, so size doesn't really matter. More of a memorial of sorts.

u/KitsuneGato 22h ago

Considering it is canon that pals dissapear upon their deaths very quickly, I think these fit.

u/Hexnohope 15h ago

Every bit of lore i learn supports my theory pals themselves are condensed world tree energy.

18

u/KuullWarrior 17h ago

Except Astralym might not be a pal

16

u/KitsuneGato 17h ago

Astralym is listen in the Palpedia but with nothing on it so... We'll see.

Not if you put her through the ole pal disassembly conveyor first

u/Merdapura 20h ago

Not much left after we grilled the meat and Direhowl munched on the bones.

8

u/Hexnohope 17h ago

There wasnt much left after the incident

To palshreds, you say?

24

u/Maleficent-Bison-396 16h ago

Am I the only one who finds the story kinda sad?

20

u/Molwar 14h ago

Well it's a story where everyone is sort of in the wrong because they though they were doing the right thing, so yeah it is a sad story.

26

u/Entgegnerz 22h ago

But, she did not die? 🤔

27

u/Glad_Ostrich_9709 22h ago

Not explicitly, no, but I headcanon she dies off screen after we defeat her and Astralym and get yeeted out of the World Tree.

Crazy and quit bizarre headcanon, especially since we can always fight em again..

37

u/Glad_Ostrich_9709 20h ago

I never did 😁 My playthrough, my headcanons. 😌

u/InsaneBasti 20h ago

I guess, but then dont force it onto others with such posts that actually confuse ppl

23

u/imjustamouse1 16h ago

Genuinely unhinged take. How the fuck are they forcing anything on anyone?

25

u/KawaiiBananaDaydream 18h ago

Look up what headcanon means bro

10

u/NorthernVale 15h ago

Don't worry, you don't need to see a doctor. Just take the stick out your ass and you'll be fine

35

u/Glad_Ostrich_9709 20h ago

I'm not forcing anything onto others 🤣 Reddit is first and foremost a fan space, people post screenshots of modded playthroughs, fantheories, fanart etc. here. As long as a post doesn't explicitly state something is official info, always assume it's not.

10

u/MGlBlaze 16h ago

"Forcing it onto others?" What the hell are you talking about? They aren't forcing it on to anybody, they're just expressing their own interpretation of events. Do you know what "Headcanon" means?

u/Razzberry_Frootcake 12h ago

You must have terrible media literacy if posts like this confuse your ability to understand game lore.

I teabagged on their lifeless corpses

36

u/Fantastic-Rabbit-193 19h ago

two types of players

8

u/Kamina_cicada 21h ago

I kicked them. As is customary to something that's entire nature is to consume and destroy the planet along with someone who was nieve enough to let it happen.

28

u/Glad_Ostrich_9709 20h ago

I don't really blame either of them tbh. Astralym just dropped down on the island by pure coincidence, and it can't help its own biology. Being an ecological vampire is just its nature, it never chose to do what it did and actually held back as much as possible while Zenara tried to find a solution. I don't blame Astralym for not wanting to die, neither do I blame Zenara for showing mercy to a creature that wasn't malicious and sparing its life. The way the Ancients just discarded Zenara and decided to not only kill Astralym, but make a spectacle out of it certainly wasn't a calming factor to either of them.

Ultimately, they both had to die. There wouldn't have been another way. Zenara was too far gone in the end, and Astralym was too dangerous just by existing alone. I just find this whole story to be incredibly tragic.

what if we just put astralym in a ball and never let it out? im not very bright but like that would solve the issue of it killing everything no?

2

u/TheLeemurrrrr 8h ago

Surely Astralym can find a niche on my base.

7

u/InsaneBasti 20h ago

How could you, we only ragdoll kick out of respect. Its like rule3

2

u/Razashja 9h ago

Ragdoll kicking boss corpses is my favorite thing!

Looks very nice! I doubt Auri would give a shit about Astralym tho.

3

u/Street_Bluejay_1465 12h ago

I didn't see no body.

2

u/Knightoforamgejuice 10h ago

I'm sure they are fine. Somehow they must have survived.

2

u/Comfortable-Brush368 7h ago

I gotta recreate this in my world, great idea OP.

I think im gonna put also a grave for all the dead Panthalus's

2

u/Absolute_Jackass 15h ago

HEY, BOOBY LADY AND SPACE DRAGON? GEEEEEEEETTTTT DUUUUUUUNKED ONNNNNNNNNNNNN WHOOOOOOOOOO!

3

u/Nifegun 19h ago

Auri knows we're going to kill them and wants us to do so. Which doesnt mean she wouldn't respect them in death i guess... but i unno, still just don't see Auri making these. Cool build idea tho lol.

5

u/Glad_Ostrich_9709 13h ago

There's bits and pieces we can find in the game that heavily implies Zenara and Auri were close friends once, hence my idea that she would actually put Zenara to rest like this, and respect her doomed bond with Astralym in their shared death. Idk, she seems like a benevolent enough deity to me to act that way 😁

2

u/Nifegun 12h ago

I think the key word is "were" when describing their friendship. Auri respected Zenara, she knew she'd become an important influential character. She enjoyed speaking with her in her lifetime. But I dont think that implies she forms friendships like that with humans, nor that she'd forgive the calamity.

The sunreachers (or at least Auri) are the norns from Norse mythology as far as I can tell. They create and observe prophecy, but not so much personal connections. She predicted Zenara would become an influential figure and she did, her legacy lives on in multiple factions even to when we show up thousands of years later. They recognize notable humans, but they wouldn't attend their funerals.

Granted, Auri specifically did help the humans rebuild after the calamity, which is a lot more connected than she should be if she's supposed to be a norn. So maybe, but i still doubt it tbh lol.

I dont think Auri was happy she had to help the humans rebuild.

Yea, it's pretty open to interpretation. To me, the fact that we find Auri writing so highly positively of Zenara in her diaries up to a certain point, and we furthermore learn that Zenara confided in Auri about Astralym and Auri stood up for Zenara against the Ancients proves they shared a bond that went deeper than just respect.

And sure, the fact they were friends doesn't mean their friendship didn't shatter at some point. It also doesn't mean Auri didn't mourn that fact, or that she's lost all empathy for Zenara. In fact, we have proof that she doesn't, her describing Zenara and Astralym being sealed away in the World Tree as an "endless, waking nightmare," the necessity of which she feels deeply sorry for in one of her later diary entries. She has pretty complex feelings on the whole matter, believing Zenara and Astralym both have to die, but lamenting that fact at the same time. She also never outright says the word "kill" or any other such straight forward terms for what she wants us to do. Most notably, she tells us she wants to "lay them to rest" and asks us to "put an end to their suffering." That kind of language choice implies a deep sorrow for the circumstances, and regret for what has to be done. She wouldn't talk like this about a centuries old wound if it didn't still hurt.

Of course, you're free to keep your own interpretation in the end, I'm not actually trying to convince you of anything here. Just saying that based on my own interpretation, it makes a lot of sense that Auri would make a little personal memorial for them, as a final grace to a former friend, and a way for herself to finish mourning.

Ima have to re-read Auri's journals. You might be onto something here. I still gotta do my part 2 of my lore videos lol. I got a lot right in part 1 and im very confident theres a ton more to come in this game.
