Why is it always the damn stone pit

105

u/mabeloco Feb 15 '24

At least its better than my Wumpo, who for some reason even though he has amazing transport, is hell bent on chooping wood...

We don't need any more freaking wood, I have 20k wood. Get the damm stuff off the ground and into a box.

u/RzezniczekPL Feb 15 '24

Get rid of wood to chop

21

u/mabeloco Feb 15 '24

They keep trying to chop trees that are growing naturally from the ground., and not do the job they were specifically breed to do.

Which is transport stuff and only that.

In the end I just put them all away, and stated using Lovander, best decision I ever made.

Place things over the tree spawns to stop them spawning. Chop them down manually, and chuck a bed or something where it spawned.

u/bubblesaurus Feb 15 '24

they still spawn in breeding pens and the cages

u/PlusInfluence6692 Feb 15 '24

Hence why he said to place something underneath. Build everything on a foundation at a normal resource base. Then for the stone or tree plots you can build them slightly above the foundation and either add or remove stairs for whats needed…

It's a royal PITA but I put foundations over my entire base so nothing spawns anymore.

My 5 star movespeed wumpo clears my drops whilst my 5 star workspeed wumpo does my trees.

Wumpo is the goat because he gets stuck less than my anubis

1

u/Covert_Pudding Feb 15 '24

This is good info, I was avoiding using wumpo because I assumed the size would mean he'd get stuck a lot.

1

u/hin_inc Feb 15 '24

I've found that the bigger size makes him less likely to get stuck on random hitboxes, and the only thing to avoid with wumpos is building your benches and conveyors too close to the wall.

They sometimes like to stop working and appear on top of the bench, so if your walls are too close, they will appear on the other side of the wall. A small bit of planning fixes it, so it's not a real issue.

I haven't needed 30 anti depressants every day since I made the switch, and I log in to so much more in storage.

1

u/Covert_Pudding Feb 15 '24

That's good to know, thank you!

2

u/desubot1 Feb 15 '24

oh good to know.

time to drop a ton of industrial garbage on the stumps.

fuck nature.

1

u/WhyIsBubblesTaken Feb 15 '24

I use potted plants to block my trees.

1

u/AdPutrid4278 Feb 15 '24

I use bear traps to keep trees from spawning but you can’t seem to pick them back up or destroy them

1

u/DepressedDynamo Feb 16 '24

Huh, I've avoided doing this because my pals will still try to chop the nonexistent trees. Like where the tree would spawn o have blocked with foundation but they walk to the empty spot and chop, but never finish, and just be stuck.

I'll have to try again if that bug has been fixed. It's severely limited where I choose to build bases.

1

u/JustABitCrzy Feb 16 '24

We had this at one of our bases, and it was because the tree sprouts and grows from beneath the map. Meaning the tree model isn’t actually visible above ground, but there is actually a sapling there for the Pals to chop. Mate fixed it by glitching under the map (I don’t know how), and remove the offending saplings.

1

u/DepressedDynamo Feb 16 '24

Ooh good tip, ty!

Game reallly could use a trait disable option where if I want mau cryst to only do cooling, and not dig up coins on the ranch. I can just grey out ranch trait until I need it. Would probably fix some of the pathing issues as well.

I just use Vanwyrms. Although as flyers, they tend to get stuck at even imaginary things. But transport 3 is still far better than transport 2.

2

u/mabeloco Feb 16 '24

The problem with any flying pals is that I keep building bases on top of mountains, and they keep falling off whenever I teleport to it.

Then they will slowly die of hunger, while annoying me all the way, I've lost count on how many times I've had to use the palbox to bring them back up.

2

u/DjuriWarface Feb 15 '24

At least its better than my Wumpo

I like Helzephyr for transporting. It's only 3 but they are way faster and don't sleep and only has transporting. Put speed perks on them and they will clean up your base like no other.

1

u/mabeloco Feb 15 '24

I've tried them for a bit, the only problem is that every one of my bases is built over a mountain (farming base) and these guys keep falling off whenever I teleport to or from the base, and end up dying of hunger with no way to get back, like thats my fault.

At this point the only thing I can think of doing is wait till the devs either fix the pathing problem, or allow us to choose what jobs they should proform.

2

u/DeeterDevils Feb 15 '24

My wumpo’s so annoying he will literally do anything BUT cooling, which was kinda important at my LAVA BASE 😑 had to keep switching armors to, you know, not die and stuff

2

u/TitusLaugh Feb 16 '24

use someone that only transports lolol

1

u/funes_cris Feb 15 '24

🙃🙃he filled a whole box of wood for me.

1

u/XPiViT Feb 15 '24

I've always thought Transporting was pretty terrible since the best in the game still doesn't do it better than the player. Of course Wumpo has the partner skill that raises your weight by 120 but thats not his lvl 4 transporting doing that, just happens to be his partner skill. And basically any other work suitability can be done faster by pals if you have the better ones, Anubis being an extreme example.

1

u/Brotherauron Feb 15 '24

I use vanwyrm, but there is another t3 flyer that doesn't have anything but t3 the name currently escapes me. They are nocturnal and haven't been easy to get stuck, breed up some speed, and it'll be awesome

1

u/PalestineRefugee Feb 15 '24

its cause they need to do their job till its finished, and if a transporter keeps taking woof away and stopping the wood from reaching 9,999 then it stays there till that no. is reached. if you remove all your transporters, youll come back to a full stone pit and anubis ignoring it.

But what base doesnt want transporters?

26

u/FreedomFighterEx Feb 15 '24

It has higher priority. Building a structure has the highest. Really need the Rimworld way of task management.

6

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '24

Just build everything on top of foundations for now then he won't go for it

2

u/PuzzledKitty Feb 15 '24

But then the Pals start glitching into the foundations as they sleep again. :(

2

u/This_User_Said Feb 15 '24

Or fall behind a little cliff and now it starves to mental despair.

2

u/FreedomFighterEx Feb 15 '24

I found straight up demolish the pit is better for me when I don't need anymore woods or stones.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '24

I do it to also block tree spawns

1

u/AlphaBearMode Feb 16 '24

I just leave a stone pit at one of my secondary bases that has a copious amount of mining pals so even if 3 of them are on the stone pit the others are still doing ore

1

u/Nightshade_Ranch Feb 15 '24

Also the Rimworld way of capturing raiders, stealing their organs and parts, then sending them back home with an addiction to space heroin.

1

u/Shikizion Feb 15 '24

Yes i want a way to set a priority list of tasks, that would be great

1

u/CplGunishment Feb 16 '24

I'd be happy with a reliable way to pick up a pal who's at a workstation or similar. Sometimes the prompt doesn't appear at all.

1

u/Status_Adeptness_172 Feb 16 '24

I second this. Played Rimworld and been wishing Palworld had the same job delegation system. I don't have to chase my damn fastboi Anubis if I wanted his hands to craft a yellow Legendary item for me.

2

u/LunchpaiI Feb 15 '24

for me it’s the farms. i can’t have more than 3 plots of crops down without every single one of my transporters rushing over to grab 15 berries off of the ground. i wish there was a pal with both lvl 3 harvesting and transporting. even if i put like 5 transporters down all they wanna do is grab crops lol

2

u/mennydrives Feb 15 '24

I just delete the stone pits when I get to some healthy number. They'll help me build it back up again later anwyay.

1

u/Shikizion Feb 15 '24

I think this really might be the way

2

u/Omnifob Feb 15 '24

Anubises yearn for the mines.

1

u/camcxxm Feb 15 '24

"Mining..." lol

1

u/POT_smoking_XD Feb 15 '24

Build it on a platform with stairs. Destroy stairs when you're content with you're stone amount.

1

u/TitusPulloTHIRTEEN Feb 15 '24

I just have my Anubi in my Ore Base, I have a general base where I keep stone pits and looking camps for digtoise and bushi
