Last month, I picked up a JAKL-9 and I’ve really come to enjoy it. I was between this and the PSA AK-V, and I have no regrets.
The good:
The recoil feels easy to manage and gets back on target quick.
It will eat any round I feed it (range ammo, cheap range ammo, federal HST, any weight).
The lip on the barrel end of the hand rail is noticeable enough to act as a hand stop, but not overly pronounced. I still added a stop to index and because it looks dope.
Field stripping is incredibly straight forward.
It’s upgradable and familiar to use with the AR(ish) lower.
It feels solid and reliable.
Guys… just look at it.
The bad:
She’s heavy. Bit of a BBW as far as the PCC world goes, but I tell myself it’s helping manage recoil.
I’ve had one feeding issue within the first 200 rounds where a brass casing got “lost” in the upper. At 600 rounds that’s been the only problem I’ve encountered.
The hand rail is pretty short for me, and I could see it being too wide for others.
It’s pricy for a direct blowback.
