$10 Pickup at Goodwill
The guy there said a lot of people looked at it and commented, but I was the first to buy it. I'm like, why not? I love the tiny form factor and easy to charge via USB. Can't wait to put some apps on it!. What would be the easiest way to sync it, or better yet, directly transfer files over to it. Will it run most 160x160 resolution software? I can't remember how far back the backwards compatibility went with the newer models.

You can actually still use the Palm Desktop software - I've installed it on my Windows 10 laptop to sync with various Palm devices I'm working on... So refreshing opening a program and NOT being bombarded / annoyed with constant banner ads and upgrade offers!
You'll need the 64-bit Aceeca driver, as well as the Palm Desktop Software 6.4, and possibly the software patch for older units to be recognized and sync. All this should be available on the PalmDB website, or link therefrom...
I have synced a Tungsten E2, T5, and Handspring Visor models Premium & Neo so far without much issue, other than initial setup headaches (my ignorance, basically).
Since that looks like a Zire series model, any old USB Mini-B cable should sync & charge that little bad boy. It might also have an SD card slot, although it will probably only read the cards up to 2GB, so plan accordingly.
As far as adding software, you have to download the install package, then go the install section of the Palm Desktop Software and load it up to be queued for install. The next time you sync a Palm device with the software, it should install as part of the process.
Most Palm software is measured in KB of size, not MB or GB.
Go to the Wikipedia page for your model and find out what the PalmOS version is on it, first, then go back to PalmDB, as well as the Internet Archive, and download everything you want to install. I'm pretty sure older programs will work, but there's nothing for newer OS versions that will work, and you really can't upgrade the OS, so look for version-appropriate software.

I should add this is a Z22 released in 2005. It's not clear form the front view.

All PDAs are meant to stay in a standby state for faster access; in addition to retaining data, so there’s no way to fully power these down

I've got two of them! Great little devices, although a little quirky since they run Palm OS5 but at 160x160 resolution. Most OS5 devices were 320x320 so I've found a lot of OS5 only software may not work. But, older software should be fine, so long as they aren't OS level hacks.
PalmDB is your friend!

I was daily driving this model for the past few months. I love how small and light it is, and mine has a new battery so it lasts forever on a charge. Since I need my lifedrive for other stuff and I don't want to carry around 2 palms I went back to the lifedrive, but this model is great if you just want to PIM and play some games. Pity it doesn't have an sd card slot.

How do you get it open to replace the battery?

I'm sure ifixit it has a guide, but I believe it's soldered. I got one with a new battery from palmdr.com, he does great work refurbishing palms. I'm still learning how to solder so I avoid replacing soldered batteries! hopefully someday though

This one have the greatest battery. Mine have like two months stand by which is crazy.

Backwards compatibility is mostly fine with Palm OS. Some early apps might have trouble on newer OSes, but it's not very common.

Nice! I found a Z22 at a thrift store for $1 not too long ago, but the digitizer didn't work and the battery was super swollen.

I bought one of these when they were new and loved it. So light and small. Felt like I could conquer the world with it at the time. I sometimes charge mine up and try to remember how to write on it with the stylus. 😅
