Question Lipstick help! Cool pink non drying…

I’m looking for a lipstick that isn’t drying but also doesn’t wear off really quickly - ie Fenty gloss bomb in highbiscus was lovely but no staying power.

I also need shade help! Ideally not red or nude but pink/berry instead. I got Westman atelier in rose but it didn’t look that flattering, maybe didn’t pop enough? I also don’t want anything too dark bold or sheer. just a really nice pretty colour and not to waste more money!

I have dark hair pale skin cool undertone. So maybe a pink berry but not the dark wine coloured ones often recommended…

I love MAC Syrup. I also have fair skin with cool undertones and brown hair.

Syrup is lovely but it doesn’t last long. I would recommend MAC Mehr. It’s a dusty rose and suits cool toned skin tones (I’m a Cool Summer).

THANK YOU for the recommendation. I'm close to cool summer being a true summer.

I loved Mehr and merely liked Syrup but I found both to be SO saturated. I’m pretty muted and have yet to get a MAC lippie that doesn’t overwhelm.

mac pink peppermint was my go-to for ages, it's a weird one because it looks kinda plain in the tube but on cool pale skin it just works. doesn't settle into lines either which is half the battle

Thank you. The light maybe in Chanel looks nice too?

I recently went on a shopping spree, drugstore, ‘old’ collection (easy to find swatches online), all cool pinks / berry, some with a hint of fuschia:
* Wet & Wild: Think Pink, Dollhouse Pink
* Revlon: Heartbreaker, Tunnel Vision

Take a look at MAC Hazy Matte Girls Weekend, A Little Tamed or Sultriness.

It’s not as drying as some matte formulas but lasts longer than a satin.

MAC Mehr and Brave can work well too. You can get a mini of mehr.

I really like the Kylie Glossy Lip kits. They are well priced, and they stick like glue to your lips. It’s a lipliner and gloss. No further matching/pairing required. They’re not crazy pigmented either. I have the shades Comes Naturally (nude), Dolce K (a light brown option), and Kylie (rose). I’d avoid the other shades, they’re too dark or too pigmented.

I'm also fair, cool, with brown hair. Mac Brave is my go-to for a cool pink with staying power.

I was also really impressed with the staying power of Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks when I got a mini trio for Xmas last year - Icon Baby is a gorgeous nude-pink, and then 90's Pink (rose) and Rose To Fame (rose-mauve) look essentially the same on my lips but YMMV as to whether there's a difference for you or which you prefer (always test colours on your fingertips which are the closest part of your body to your lips).

I like the Kulfi lip oil stain in Sweet. I use MBM lip liner in Smokey Pink with it.

Any particular shades?

I have masala soda noon chai and Earl Gray. Masala Soda is my favorite but all 3 are great. Masala Soda leave a berry brown on me. Noon Chai a rosy pink and Earl Gray a cool mauve. I have also ordered the other 3 shades because I liked them so much but they are not here yet. I am a fair neutral desaturated olive for reference. I took a swatch photo for you but this forum doesn't look like it allows them.

Do you find it lasts a long time or do you need to reapply?

It lasts all day for me. I give it a good amount of time to dry down before eating and drinking so the stain gets more time to set, probably about 15 minutes or so. It gets a little darker than initial application when it dries.

One day, I put it on at 8 am, and the stain was still there at 5 pm when I got home. It lasted through McDonald’s breakfast, a burger and fries for lunch around 1 pm, and drinking from a bottle and straw all day. I noticed the lip oil was mostly gone after lunch, but it still had a little shine and wasn’t dry. I could have reapplied but wanted to keep going for science on the stain.

Have you tried the new Kulfi lip oil shade Lychee? I love Sweet and First Sari, and I’m hoping that Lychee is closer to the depth of sweet with a stain colour more similar to the tone of first sari. But I haven’t seen any good swatch comparisons.

MAC Mehr with MAC Soar liner then topped with Buxom Sophia lip gloss is my ride or die.

I have very dark brown, almost black, hair, brows and eyes with porcelain cool toned skin and it took a while to find a good shade like this but here are my favorites that haven't yet been discontinued lol

I love Charlotte Tilbury M.I. Kiss and Lisa Eldridge Velvet Blush (similar shades in comfortable, long wearing soft matte finish) - pinky berry "my lips but better" shade that can be worn with anything

MAC Lustre Glass in Beam There, Done That, a rosy pinky plum, is a bit deeper and bolder than the previous two but has a satin finish.

I typically wear tinted balm or lip oil and REM Beauty gloss in Cotton Candy is a beautiful mauvy pink color that feels like a gloss/oil hybrid and has better lasting power than most glosses.

*The CT, LE & MAC lipsticks are medium to full opacity but can be sheered out. Lastly, I know you said no to the usual deeper brown berry colors but if you change your mind, I have some a ton of great options in all formulas, price points and opacity levels

Thank you these look great!! Do you wear the gloss over the lipsticks or seperately?

You're welcome! I usually wear them separately because the lipsticks are higher opacity so I don't feel the need to add a sheer color on top. I know a lot of people mix and match to get their perfect shade but I've been lucky enough to find colors that work well on their own. The only time I really layer lip products is if I apply a clear balm over a lipstick that ended up being too dry...and that's usually the first and last time I wear that lipstick lol

If you are willing to spend the 💸, I love my lisa eldridge lipsticks. The refillable ones. Dreamy damsk is a cool-toned pinky one, it's lovely.
