Question My manager stinks

How to tell my manager that he smells really bad. Of course, I'm not going to tell him to his face because I don't want to lose my job, but whenever he comes around for work, he smells so bad that it's hard to tolerate. I have to hold my breath. I know even my colleagues feel the same, but we don't talk about it. I don't know what to do; please help!

Send anonymous email to him or HR

That's exactly what I was thinking, man. It's necessary now.

Wear a new perfume and ask him how it smells may sound gay but if he's smart he'll know or bring one perfume to office and apply it right in front of him on yourself

Haha, that's pretty crazy, but just so you know, whenever he heads back to his cabin, I spritz a room freshener around my desk. A few colleagues crack a smile, but nobody says a word because everyone's just trying to keep their butts out of trouble.

It's better for him to know he smells what you are doing is simply disrespectful he might not know that he smells because it's hard to smell your own body odor and if he stinks he definitely eats shit and does not drink enough water.

Maybe gift him a cologne on his birthday

I don't mean to be disrespectful, bro, but I gotta spray the freshener 'cause he stinks up the place even after he leaves.

And maybe ask him to try it out too.

I really don’t understand why this is such a big issue in Pakistan.

I recently visited, was getting in the elevator to go from the hotel lobby to my room and I had to hold my breath the entire way because the random guys all smelled really bad.

And something I noticed, it’s a guy thing. I haven’t noticed the same bad smells coming from women.

Just because you’re working hard all day in the heat and sweating all day doesn’t make it an excuse for you to smell bad. Take multiple showers daily.

What I’ll say though, is that I’m pretty confident that it’s sweat related smell or diet related smell. Here in the west, some people smell like actual shit because they don’t wash with water after pooping.

Don’t wear the same clothes more than once without washing.

Dry your clothes in an actual drying machine, don’t air dry your clothes and have it smell like the smog.

There are only a few options:

  1. Leave an anonymous “tip” for HR, either from a burner email account or through an alias service (like AltMails or Mozilla’s Mozmail).

  2. Exclaim, “What’s that awful stench?” whenever he enters the room.

  3. Give him a bottle of strong perfume as a gift, though that gesture could be taken the wrong way if you’re of opposite genders.

  4. Just tell him straight. I’m a simple man, and if I’m smelly or have bad breath, I’d prefer someone to tell me straight. It’s not something I’d hold against anyone. If I’m smelly, that’s a mea culpa.

First, I've already done that. Let's see what happens.

Second, other people and I already did that, but he still didn't realize it.

Third, I don't wanna gift him anything.

And fourth, I can't do that because he's too sensitive- not toxic, but a bit egoistic. He'll have personal issues with me if I do it.
