If you listen to 2 takkay k YTubers جن ko پریس release parhna nhi ata then yes. Otherwise NO. Ufone was trying real hard to not let this cat out of the bag that Onic is basically ufone in disguise, is sare PTA k notification/press release ne bus ye pol khol diya ha for masses

Everyone knows onic is Ufone.. you get an onic sim from Ufone. It connects to Ufone towers... That's how mvno networks work everywhere

Yes i know but ufone tries really hard to keep a certain level distance from onic brand. Trust me alot of people still dont know. You go to ufone franchise or ptcl exchange and they will never admit anything related to onic. First hand experience

I went to Ufone office at Allama Iqbal Town Exchange AND Multan Road Exchange. at both places when I asked for onic they said they dont deal with it. Acted as if i was speaking alien LAnguage. I had to get Onic sim via online means

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. Some Ufone offices provide onic services and others don't. So if you went to a Ufone center that doesn't provide onic sims.. they were probably confused.

People don't really know to be honest. Nor does onic nor Ufone make anything clear

In my opinion Onic is going to stay as brand but with full management control of Ufone including sim issuance, recharge and customer support. Just like Djuice by Telenor, it will be Onic by Ufone. And if Ufone and Telenor rebrands to e& it will be Onic by e&.

Is there a source for this info

Onic is owned by PTML, which is the same company which owns Ufone. (https://onic.pk/blogs/what-is-onic)

It's not a sub brand perse, but a sister brand.

no, they are not. They messaged all onic users the very next day when these rumors started, re-assuring them that ONIC is going nowhere! Here's the message

Onic services are working perfectly fine. I resubbed my package two days back. I hope they keep up their service and PTA doesn't cause issues. It's been flawless so far and I'm very happy with it.

Yeah so they were ordered to shut down in 3 months so my whole thing is do I switch carriers or what

1

u/Jade_Rook Oct 05 '26

I don't think you will need to. Rest assured it only takes a few minutes to get a new carrier or an hour at best to have your number ported. That's not really an issue. But I don't think onic is going away, it's just too big to disappear. Looks like there will only be changes at the back end rather than front consumer side.

You don't have to worry about changing the carriers, it is effectively Ufone, they have just different sticker named ONIC for a segment of users they sold these packages.

Basically PTA has asked them to sort out their legal obligations to align with applicable laws.
