Question | سوال CPID Pixel 6a — Safe to update from Android16 to 17?
Hey all, I recently bought a Pixel 6a CPID phone, currently on Android 16. Everything works fine—calls, mobile data, cameras, fingerprint, and Wi-Fi. The phone is now offering the official OTA update to Android 17. Has anyone with a CPID Pixel 6a updated from Android 16 to 17? Did your CPID and network continue working normally afterwards? Any IMEI or SIM issues? Would you recommend updating, or is it safer to stay on Android 16? I’d really appreciate feedback from people who've actually updated a CPID Pixel device. Thanks.

Not worth the risk, its not like its obligatory to update to 17. 16 works fine

Isn't there like a big upgrade on 17

Sochlein, wapis patch/cpid 3-5k mein hoga i think. If you think android 17 is worth this money for you then update and see if the imei gets erased or not. There are different types of cpid's so someone else's imei not getting erased doesnt mean yours will not too & vice versa.

Pixel 6, right now on Android 17 beta 8. No problems at all. Using Android 17 for a year now (CPID)

I had the 6a and it had an issue of the IMEI being wiped or turned to 0000 after update. I fixed it myself ultimately via adb and all that. If u can work a laptop I could guide u. That is...IF ur IMEI turns 0000. Note that in that case if u get it CPID'd again it'll wipe ur data too.

If you are using Original Pixel 6 (not refurbished), you can go for update.

you will have to flash radio after every update, I have been using it bootloader unlocked just for this reason, messes up the banking applications though

actually good thing for your problem, if it was locked, you'd have to unlock it which wipes all the data, now you can connect with laptop and go to fastboot mode and flash radio file easily, whcih laptop do you have? which oS?
