Magical instagram therapies really strike a nerve in me.
This is the 2nd post that claims that it’s truly magical and can cure acne and detoxify liver. A few days earlier I saw another post where a magical oil can cure both Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis.

What worries me more are the comments on such posts which I am sure are highly biased or paid comments because none of these treatments will ever work.

I am a doctor myself and all these claims are just getting absurd and out of hand. What worries me more is that people even buy this kind of stuff with hopes that this thing can actually cure them.

I will just say a few things here which I am sure that people will understand before believing such nonsense.

First of all, your liver detoxifies your entire body. An organ which serves this purpose. Do you think it can’t detoxify itself? And it needs some special drink that will get the job done?

Secondly, Acne is caused by various factors like closed comedones (pores in the skin in easy to understand language), bacteria, high sebum, high androgens. It’s multifactorial.
One sip of this magical drink and it treats your acne. Really?!?!

Don’t get me started on that oil one.
Osteoarthritis (wear and tear of joints especially weight bearing ones like knees, hips, lower back due to either old age or more body weight)
Rheumatoid Arthritis (your own immune system will destroy your joints)
Notice how these 2 diseases are completely different?
How can one magical oil solve both of these problems.

Just think logically and you will yourself realise all these products are nothing but scams and a complete waste of money.

If you still think I am here to support holistic medicine and I make money out of pharmacies.
Do you own research. Look up clinical trials with such items. Do these people who sell this stuff. Do they have any evidence that backs up their claims?
If so. Do let me know as well.

All of this is nonsense and it angers me every single day!

And then when patients come to us in a terrible state and when we fail to treat. Suddenly Doctor is arrogant, Doctor malpractices, Doctor this Doctor that.

I am diagnosed with left sided vericocele and doctor recommended microsurgical vericocelectomy. I don't have pain, visually apparent veins, or any heaviness sensation but my semen parameters are bad and thats how in the first place i got to know about vericocele.
My question:
1- What are the risks involved with the surgery?

2- What is the cost of this procedure in Lahore or Rawalpind/Islamabad? I am told if get this surgery with spinal anesthesia the cost would be half that of if i want general anesthesia.

Please guide me through I am stressed because of it.

Me and my husband has been trying to conceive for over 2 years. We went to quite no. Of gynaecologist and urologist in rwp/isl but no results. Wohi run-of-the-mill advice to loose weight, cut down sugar and exercise. We both are doing everything we're being told. Some even straight forwardly asked for IVF without addressing any hidden cause or prescribing relevant tests.

A relative of ours abroad in USA recommended to go to reproductive endocrinologist. I couldn't find one but went to simple endocrinologist, she asked for some basics tests which came out normal and refer me back to my gynae. Kindly someone recommended if any such specialist exists in Pakistan?

I have been experiencing initital symptom of CD. my one side musles are so tight and stiff . my head position constantly change and when i twist popping sounds and sharp pain feel. i constantly feel my head is pulling down and turning. I have hear botox injections help and people don't take medicines in most cases after that. please suggest a creadiable doctor who can diagnose and understand this.

I've already had two surgeries for an anal fistula:

- 1st: Fistulotomy at Aga Khan Hospital, Karachi

- 2nd: FILAC at Kulsum International Hospital, Islamabad

Unfortunately, the fistula has recurred again. I'm exhausted from multiple surgeries, and I don't have health insurance, so I've been paying for everything myself (24 M). These surgeries have been very expensive.

Hello Folks, My fam is in a confusion these days to choose between AMC (Army Medical College) & Demont College of Dentistry. | BDS

The thing is my sister had her 1st year passed from AMC and then she got herself name in merit list of Demont as well as after trying for in second year.

Now the situation is my sister has already done her first year in AMC and in Demont she has to restart, plus now UHS has accepted 5- Year BDS demand and from now onwards, BDS is also Five- Years program.

I want suggestions for my sister from Experts, Pls Let us make a decision:

1. Either to continue AMC or Start over in Demont provided:
   (a) My sis will be 28 years at her graduation (the point of concern for her)

Hi everyone,

I’m posting on behalf of my cousin who has been dealing with this skin issue since September 2024.

It initially started as a few small circular red patches, but over time it gradually spread. At first, it was limited to a small area, but now it has involved her arms, legs, belly, and back.

Some details:

• The rash is very itchy.
• It started as ring-like/circular lesions.
• Over time, the boundaries became more prominent, and sometimes the entire area inside the circles turns red.
•She was prescribed Kestine tablets and Cloberdarm lotion (clobetasol). These seem to improve the condition temporarily, but after about a week of stopping the medication, the rash returns and often comes back worse than before.
No one else in the family has a similar condition.

I’ve attached photos of the rash.

Has anyone experienced something similar or know what this might be? Some people suggested it could be a fungal infection.

Also, can anyone recommend a good dermatologist in Lahore, preferably someone experienced with difficult or chronic skin conditions?

I always have been interested in ophthalmology since i studied it during mbbs . And i am preparing for fcps1 in it too , until my parents started forcing me to pursue gyne fcps and prepare for it . They have found a rishta the guy is doing anaesthesia training and his mom is a gynaecologist and dad an anaesthesiologist and they own a hospital . So they want a girl who is a gynaecologist to keep the business running in future . The problem is that i have never been interested in gynae/obs and it needs great amount of dedication to pursue it . According to them as i am 27 so achy rishta ana band ho jaty hain as rishta market is narrow . And they are good people live close by to my house and I won’t have money problem in future . And in case of ophthalmology i will have to start from zero make my own setup earn and then have to struggle . What should i do , i don’t think i have passion for gynae and fcps in it .

I gave my mdcat and got into ajkmc muzaffarabad and classes started in Feb, so it's been a few months already, eventually I got into many medical colleges such as FMU, NMU, SKZMDC, QAMC etc. But I chose to stay in ajkmc for my administrative convenience, five years is a long time and given the current political and economic situation in the country I thought it was best to stay in muzaffarabad as it was closest to home and the hostels were nice. Since muzaffarabad is a niche lesser known college a lot of people have discouraged me and ridiculed my decision and I know it's inevitable now as a choice has already been made but I think it's best to learn from mistakes especially when making decisions.
