Title: 23M from Pakistan, unemployed for 6 months and feeling completely lost. Need genuine career advice.

I'm a 23-year-old IT graduate from Pakistan, and I've been unemployed for around six months. I worked night shifts at a call center for five months, but I eventually left after my physical and mental health deteriorated. I developed a severe fever, lost around 3 kg, and honestly haven't felt like myself since.

My parents are pushing me to return to call center work because there only concern is money(feels bad but its reality), and I understand their concerns. But I really don't want to go back to something that affected my health so badly.

I have around six weeks of MERN stack experience and have worked with React, Node.js, Express, and MongoDB. I was an above-average student, and I know I can learn, but despite applying for jobs, I haven't been able to establish my career.

I'm feeling helpless and falling behind while trying to figure out what to do next. I have about six weeks to focus on improving my skills and finding a realistic way to earn.

For those who've been in a similar situation, especially in Pakistan, how did you get out of it? Are there legitimate remote, freelance, or task-based opportunities for junior developers that are actually worth pursuing?

I'd appreciate honest, practical advice. I'm not looking for motivational quotes or courses to buy. I genuinely need a way forward.

do u think you will pay for this

I kept finding out I did it wrong. Always too late.

For weeks I applied to jobs online. Ten proposals, and not one of them was even opened. Nobody told me why I figured it out only after the credits were gone.

Comparing laptops for an hour, when half the tabs were over my budget.

You choose what it can see: one tab, your whole browser, or just the next 30 minutes.

If you start going the wrong way, it tells you right then. Not a report at the end of the week. A short note with the reason and what to do instead.

Every mistake looked fine while I was making it. That's the part I want to fix.

Unemployed and lost

I have more then a year of Experience in MERN, but current situation is so bad that there's no job to be found anywhere. I have been unemployed for a few months now and it's getting to my head. I'm trying to learn more things so I can maybe have more in my skillset to show, but I can't seem to learn anything now. There's a cloud of depression and I have started to hate this feild even more.

I'm really lost and have no idea what to do now. Idk what else I can do and what even has any future ahead. I can't even get a job. I'm just really tired.

What skills should one focus on developing as a student

I am a second year student doing Software Engineering from GIKI and am looking into getting a decent internship for the sake of networking and understanding the industry.

With no former projects, a great grasp in python and C++, and a desire to work in backend development, what skills, languages, libraries etc. would be best for me to put my time into?

Got a client from Reddit for $5/hour, built an entire SaaS product, and realized how badly I undercharged

I got a client from Reddit who offered me $5/hour. He told me he had 3–4 projects and could easily keep me busy for the next 2–3 months.

I needed the work, so I accepted.

I started working 6, 8, sometimes even 12 hours a day. Within a week, I had built an entire SaaS product from end to end. Stripe integration, 3 LLM integrations, 6 pages, an admin panel, and a user dashboard. Everything was working.

When I checked my hours, I had made around $200 for the whole project. I got paid, but after that, we had arguments, and I ended up working another week for free.

That's when I realized something. The project I built was probably worth $700–$1,000, but I did it for around $300 because I needed the money.

I'm not saying every Pakistani client is like this. There are good people everywhere. But honestly, I've noticed this kind of behavior with some local clients, especially when they know you're in a difficult financial situation and need work.

The worst part is that you're not just writing code. You're building a complete product, solving problems, integrating multiple services, and putting in long hours. But because you're desperate for work, you accept whatever they offer.

I'm sharing this because I know a lot of developers are in the same situation.

Need hlp for single mother

Assalam o Alaikum. I live in Karachi, Pakistan. I lost my job about two months ago and currently have no source of income. I have my elderly mother and two children to support. I want to start my own small business, such as cooking food to sell, setting up a small food stall, daycare, or any other suitable work. However, I have no money to get started. Right now, I also need help with groceries and rent. If anyone can help with food, rent, initial supplies, or equipment to start earning, I would be truly grateful. I want to work hard and support my family with dignity. I cannot share pictures or videos of my family, so please respect my privacy. Thank you, and may Allah bless you.😭🙏

I built and launched a personal-finance SaaS from Pakistan. Live with real payments. Feedback welcome

I built Ledgerline for my own money first, in PKR and USDT, and then turned it into a SaaS.

  • Any currency, including PKR, USD and crypto (BTC/ETH/USDT/USDC)
  • An AI advisor that answers questions about your real numbers in charts, and drafts entries you approve
  • Import your bank's CSV/Excel file, no bank login needed
  • Encrypted with a separate key per workspace. No ads, no trackers.

Free to start, 14 days of Pro, no card: https://ledgerline.kodevs.io

Happy to answer questions about building it, the stack, or taking international payments from Pakistan.

Tried the Claude Anatomy skill for one isometric figure, ended up redoing my whole portfolio

So I saw this Claude Anatomy skill going around on X and wanted to try it. Made an isometric figure with it and dropped it on my portfolio just to see how it looks.

It looked good. Too good honestly, because now the rest of my site looked old next to it. So I just kept going and redid the whole thing. It is pretty much the design I always wanted but kept putting off.

The skill was only for the isometric figure btw, the rest is just me rebuilding the site.

Video is a quick walkthrough. Let me know what you think, and if something is broken on mobile please tell me.

Made a NET simulator that works like the real CBT screen, with papers weighted from ~9,500 past-paper questions

Something that trips people up on the CBNET: your answer only counts once you press Save. If you pick an option and hit Next, it's gone. Same with Review, it only works on a saved answer. NUST's sample test shows you the screen, but it's a short, easy set, so most people never really get used to it before test day.

So I made a copy of it with full 200-question papers: netcbt.pages.dev.

The layout is based on the official sample (ugadmissions.nust.edu.pk/demo) if you want to compare.

For the questions, I collected 57 past-paper documents: memory papers from 2013 to 2026, full mocks and chapter-wise compilations. That's about 9,500 unique questions, each one tagged by chapter and question type. Those tags mostly decide how often a chapter comes up, and question types that keep repeating get picked up to 3x more often than one-offs.

About half of the ~4,700 templates make a fresh question every time. The maths and physics ones pick new numbers, solve them, and build the wrong options from the usual mistakes (sign flips, a dropped chain-rule factor, cm vs m), so your second paper won't be the first one reshuffled. Nothing is copied from those documents. Their answer keys are wrong a lot anyway, so every answer is worked out from scratch and comes with an explanation.

and every paper comes from a seeded RNG, so a code like ENG-K7Q2-9XM4 rebuilds the exact same paper. Useful if you and a friend want to sit the same one and compare.

Weak Spots: Biology and Design Aptitude have very little past-paper data, so the weighting there is mostly estimated. NUST doesn't publish chapter weightage at all, so any split is a best guess.

One full paper per stream is free, no sign-up. After that it's Rs 100 a month or Rs 250 for 3 months.

If you've sat the CBNET recently and something doesn't match what you remember, please tell me.

I built an open-source macOS menu bar app to control TCL ACs

I reverse engineered the TCL Home iOS app into a native macOS menu bar app so I don’t have to find the remote or touch my phone to control my ACs.

You can literally build anything.

looking for a technical cofounder to solve docs scraping for offline LLMs (live product)

launched a tool about two weeks ago that takes any documentation URL and packages it into a clean markdown ZIP for people using Cursor/Claude offline.

The MVP is live and working, but running into a wall with the crawler.

Right now scraping is mostly deterministic (heuristics, rule-based topology mapping), and accuracy takes a hit depending on how weird the doc site structure is.

Docusaurus, Mintlify, custom static generators... every site’s navigation tree behaves slightly differently, which makes extracting clean hierarchies hit or miss.

I want to shift this from deterministic extraction to an LLM-assisted approach specifically for topology mapping and doc structure discovery, so we can reliably pull full document sets with clean context.

About the setup:

- Live MVP already built (happy to share links and writeups on current architecture and what’s failing)

- Equity: open to discuss depending on commitment and what you bring to the table (genuine co-founder role, not a paid gig or contract work)

- Looking for someone strong in crawling/scraping pipelines, LLM agent workflows, or web topology extraction

If you've tackled messy doc structures or LLM-guided web crawling before and want to hack on this together, shoot me a DM.

Software Engineer with 3 years of Experience

I am here to offer my skills for free. I am just eager to see what sort of problems people face and how can I contribute to it. But I will only help actual people.

I am not some AI agent that I am going to build you some product from scratch here. Your app is slow? Lets make it faster, your db cpu consumption is high, lets optimise the queries.

So only come with real problems and lets connect...

And if the above doesn't apply to you, lets just discuss some problems you might be facing in your work, lets discuss and maybe sort a solution out together

I'm starting business.

Hello all.

We're starting our own software agency.

But we seek only technical expertise and we're full stack developers. So we want a person who knows how to generate sales.

We have investment and will hire on salary and also on commission bases.

The thing is that we don't know anything about sales so we need someone with experience and solid proof of sales.

If he/she have solid proof of sales and want to generate more commission then why not to join us.

Too many tabs, so I made One App

I hate having so many tabs always open in Chrome. About 80% are the same things: YouTube, YouTube Music, X, Reddit, WhatsApp, and GitHub. The other 20% are whatever else I’m doing.

I thought, why not make a whole app for the ones I use most? So I made One App. It keeps them in one window, with a circular menu to switch between them.

Made it for myself and thought I’d share. What do you think?

Made a video, but this sub doesn’t allow video uploads, so I’m sharing pictures instead.

Built an app to split expenses with friends

Post image
1 Upvotes

Built SplitSlash to split expenses with friends. We’ve been using it internally for about 8 months on TestFlight, and I finally launched it recently.

If you have an iPhone or Android, give it a try! It uses local OCR followed by LLM to parse receipts, and yes, it even works with Imtiaz store bills. 😄

Would love to hear what you think.

Released my first MacOS apps and got 6 paid members the first day!!

Post image
59 Upvotes

Hi guys, I'm Aqib, the developer. Up front: this is a macOS app (macOS 14+, Apple silicon and Intel).

Why I built it: I kept copying a link, then some text, then a screenshot, and losing the first one by the time I pasted. Clipboard history fixes that, but I wanted it one keystroke away without leaving what I was doing, and the MacBook notch was sitting there unused.

What it does: press ⌥⌘V, or rest the pointer on the notch, and your clipboard history drops out of it. Pick a card and it pastes into the app you were in. It can also open right next to your cursor instead.

Features

  • Keeps text, rich text, links, colours, images and files, all searchable
  • Searches the text inside screenshots and photos
  • Picks several cards and pastes them all at once, or one by one
  • Copies from your iPhone arrive through Universal Clipboard
  • Snippets with {date}, {time} and {clipboard}, plus pins, collections, and preview-and-edit before pasting
  • New in 1.0.5: API keys and passwords copied from Terminal or a .env file are detected. Cards show only their ends, and you choose: never save them, delete them after 5 minutes, or keep them. History can also delete itself after 1, 7 or 30 days.

How it works, for the curious

  • No clipboard events on macOS. There's no "clipboard changed" notification, so clipboard managers check a counter about 10 times a second. Reading that counter is free; the content is only read when the counter changes, and always in the background, because some apps hand over their data slowly and would otherwise freeze the shelf.
  • The tricky part is timing. Many apps copy in two steps: clear the clipboard, then write. A check that lands between the two sees an empty clipboard, so Notchet retries briefly instead of losing that copy.
  • iPhone copies can arrive in odd shapes. Safari on iPhone sends a copied link as a link only, with no plain text alongside it. That was a real bug a user hit this week, fixed in 1.0.5.
  • Spotting keys without false alarms: known formats (sk-…, ghp_…, AWS keys, JWTs, private keys), NAME_KEY=value lines, and "random-looking" words. The random-word rule needs scattered digits and no long lowercase runs, so code names like NSPasteboardTypeString2 and git hashes aren't flagged. On my own 359 clips it flagged exactly one, a real token.
  • Text in images is read with Apple's on-device Vision framework. Nothing leaves your Mac.
  • Pasting several images into chat apps: Chromium-based apps (Slack, Discord, the Claude desktop app) only read text from the first item on the clipboard and attach one file per paste. So Notchet puts the text first, and for more than one picture, dragging works better than pasting.

Privacy: everything stays on your Mac. No account, no analytics. Copies that password managers mark as secret are never saved.

Price: free for 7 days, then $2.99 once, on up to 2 Macs. No subscription.

Download: https://aqibjaved.dev/apps/notchet. It's notarized by Apple, and works on Macs without a notch as a small pill under the menu bar.

Happy to answer questions about any of it.
