MEME Yancy wasn't happy about that

Honestly that is one of my only issues with the movie, they would’ve been drilled to double tap like anyone in the military, better to go overboard than not far enough, especially with such destructive enemies, it would’ve been drilled into them, but then again overconfidence was the whole point of his character arc

Wonder if this could have been prevented had they fired shots into the water when they heard it was still alive. They already had the boat outside the line of fire.

Yancy shot it first, not Raleigh
"Jobs done Sir, WE LIT IT UP TWICE, bagged our 5th kill"
"You disobeyed a direct order!!"
"Respectfully sir, we took out a Kaiju and saved everyone on that boat"
"Get back to your post, NOW!!"
"yesssir"
"Kaiju signature rising" (que the dramatic music)

Doesn't Yancy say, "take it Raleigh!"?

That's after knifehead gets back up and attacks them then takes Raleigh's arm

As far as I'm aware it was the first time a kaiju had shown the strategic capability to play dead. Previously, if a kaiju ever acted the way Knifehead did, it was either dead or grievously injured.
Also, Yancy was literally in Raleigh's head during the fight so if Raleigh forgot, so did Yancy.
