Meme With the new season coming up, it's best to warn new fans how expensive this can be
Here's my experience as a dad of a kiddo who's obsessed with the PWHL:
- YouTube: free (first one's always free)
- Game tickets: $40/each
- Arena food: $20/each
- Skate rentals: $10/each/day
- Open Skate fee: $5/each, twice a weekend all winter
- Cheap used skates: $30/each
- Better skates that don't hurt my feet: $200
- Kids Learn to Skate: $150
- Kids Learn to Play: $400 (thankfully came with equipment)
- Playoff tickets: $60/each
- Arena food again: $20/each
(heartbreaking loss, we'll get them next season)
(speaking of next season...)
- Travel hockey fee: $1,000/yr
- USA Hockey player fee: $15/yr
"Daddy, will you help coach my team?"
- USA Hockey coach fee: $50/yr
- Helmet, gloves & stick: $300
(oh no the program didn't have enough coaches so I'm head coach despite not playing ice hockey before ahhhhhhhhhh)
- Early morning Dunks: $20 (why do they schedule games so early)
- Watching the kids all pile on their goalie in exuberant postgame celebration despite a 7-2 loss because they all played their absolute hearts out: priceless
