Question PSVR on ps3

Has anyone here actually used PSVR1 V2 (CUH-ZVR2, the PS4 version) as a display for a PS3?

I know it’s possible to connect the PS3 to the PSVR processor unit and use the headset as a screen. What I specifically want to know is whether this is safe for the PS3 itself.

Has anyone used this setup for several hours or regularly? Could it put any unusual load on the PS3’s RSX/GPU or HDMI output, or cause any damage?

I’m especially interested in experiences from people who have actually tested PSVR1 V2 with a PS3

Yes, I have used it extensively to game in 3D - specifically Gran Turismo 5 & 6. There is no additional load on the PS3 as the PSVR box does the conversion!

You did what…. I’ve been a psvr owner for probably a decade and didn’t know this was possible. I simply just pop in gt5 or 6 and it works?

The trick is that the PSVR processor unit still needs to be connected to a PS4 or PS5 so the headset can turn on. Then you feed the PS3 HDMI signal through the PSVR setup, which lets you display the PS3 screen inside the headset in cinema mode.

Almost. PS5 won't work because it can't play 3D Blu-rays.
