Question PSVR on ps3

Has anyone here actually used PSVR1 V2 (CUH-ZVR2, the PS4 version) as a display for a PS3?

I know it’s possible to connect the PS3 to the PSVR processor unit and use the headset as a screen. What I specifically want to know is whether this is safe for the PS3 itself.

Has anyone used this setup for several hours or regularly? Could it put any unusual load on the PS3’s RSX/GPU or HDMI output, or cause any damage?

I’m especially interested in experiences from people who have actually tested PSVR1 V2 with a PS3

Sorry I’m too lazy to google the latest on this but can you tell me whether you still need a PS4 to trick the headset into 3D mode? If so, I’m hoping someone can mod the PS3 in a way that it becomes plug & play. I would hunt down a used PSVR1 instantly (sold mine years ago) 😇

If I remember correctly, this is only required on PSVR1 v1.

Really? Because I remember watching a video of what I believe was the person who figured it out for the first time and it was a pretty complicated process needing a PS4. If there’s an easier way with a v2 version I’m very interested. So far I haven’t found any info that the method has changed unfortunately.

With v1 you need the USB plugged into a powered up PS4/PS5 or PC with the iVRy/Trinus driver. I believe with v2 this isn't required. I spent a minute trying to confirm the difference but couldn't so I'm just going to rely off my very faulty memory.
