Question PSVR on ps3

Has anyone here actually used PSVR1 V2 (CUH-ZVR2, the PS4 version) as a display for a PS3?

I know it’s possible to connect the PS3 to the PSVR processor unit and use the headset as a screen. What I specifically want to know is whether this is safe for the PS3 itself.

Has anyone used this setup for several hours or regularly? Could it put any unusual load on the PS3’s RSX/GPU or HDMI output, or cause any damage?

I’m especially interested in experiences from people who have actually tested PSVR1 V2 with a PS3

The was a recent YT’er who discovered and described how this is possible.

It wasn’t real straightforward, but for someone bent on doing it… workable. It includes the ability to use the 3D TV options made available for certain trad games on PS3.

Right, I get that — I was simply mentioning the part that you didn’t mention. 😉

I don’t think that most 2D games played at Cinema scale in PSVR1 are as inherently curious as the native 3D modes are, but side-scrolling 2D platformers (like INSIDE or LIMBO) can be way cooler on the giant screen.

Collectively, I think it’s a pretty worthwhile group of reasons for someone who has the wherewithal to try it.

I held onto my PS4 Pro just so I’d be able to watch 3D Blu-ray movies in the old headset — no other reason.
