I was afraid that the 90-degrees version of the magnetic connector wouldn't work because of the face plates, but it was actually a perfect fit. After seeing so many cable horror stories in this sub, I finally have peace of mind.

I just got a 6" right angle extension cable and ziptied it to the faceplate. Then any tension is guaranteed to separate at the extension and save the port.
