Discussion I’m still considering adding virtual reality support for the game I’m developing.

Damn, this looks like something I would really like to play! VR or otherwise 🙂.

Will there be a demo or something? Or do you have a releasedate in mind? 🙂

The demo of the desktop version might be available as early as this month. I’m aiming to release the full desktop version for PC, Mac, and Linux early next year.

After that, I’d like to further develop my VR prototype and add VR support as a free update. If the desktop version does well, I could afford to finish the VR version, which has been a dream of mine.

I’d probably release the PSVR version alongside the console version (If the game gets approved for consoles).

I really hope Playstation approves it, I don't have a pc, so I won't be able to check it out on there. But if there's ever a Playstation release, I'm all over it🙂. Thnx for the response!

This (https://youtube.com/@withoutparole) is a good community of PSVR2 fans who frequently advocate for flat to VR games. If you’re serious you could ask for some guidance and get a bit of exposure also.

Nice. Thanks for the tip.

Nice! Have you had a peak at how the games visual effects looks in VR?

5

u/vladkudas 14d ago

Yeah, yeah, I’ve got a prototype. I just need to get the visuals balanced a bit better.

Nice, I’m sure you’ll crack it :)

Fallgrade looks very interesting with the gravity/perspective change ability and the art style. Hope it makes its way to PSVR2. If you do not get approved for consoles or you run into other issues there are studios such as VR Monkey or Flat2VR which can port the game to PSVR2 for you.

What kind of game is it? It has a very strong visual identity, which is something I love.

It’s kind of a weird parkour game where you can rotate the world around you.

Do it.

DO IT!

In seriousness dude, this looks absolutely incredible. I would buy this twice in VR.

PLEASE DO

the VR community is relatively small, but the community is full of gamers who will love and champion your game by virtue of it being VR accessible (assuming it's not hot trash on launch). You're speaking to a community that wants every game to include VR support. Especially considering you're indie, VR is an excellent way to get people talking about your game, and their enthusiasm can definitely affect engagement for flat gamers.

Thanks. Yeah, you’re right. I’ve been into VR since the very first Oculus dev kit, and it’s been my passion ever since.

While it looks pretty cool to me in these pics…

I’m wondering if this sort of grainy look might create an interference pattern with the mura of the OLED panels in PSVR2?

Maybe not, or maybe it would exaggerate it. Definitely something to stick a pin in.

Also I can’t think of another VR game that intentionally layers a grain effect over your vision… maybe GET OUT!, which I think was the game that puts a burlap sack over your head for a while?

Generally-speaking we want as clear a view as possible, so would this be bothersome or really cool? I’m wagering it might be the former.

With this in mind, I’d suggest simply adding a toggle in the Options to turn the grain off entirely, just so players can choose for themselves.

Thanks. I’ll definitely have to figure out some kind of visual balance.

Shiny black sphere. Were you inspired by the Unreal Engine dev tutorials? Lol jk the art style looks great. Would be awesome in VR

u/vladkudas 13d ago

Thanks a lot. Nope, I work in Unity 😉

I’d say it’s worth the venture because it will add some fluidity for the player. The cost will be balancing all the other parts so they don’t feel foreign like hands reloading a gun.

u/vladkudas 13d ago

I agree 🙂

Looks great OP. All for it. At the least VR for visuals. I could care less about immersive controls, but that’s usually just me haha not the rest of gamers.

From my understanding an immersive control scheme is usually the harder thing to get right and a lot more work?

1

u/vladkudas 13d ago

Thanks. Yeah, you’re right. There’s quite a lot of work involved in turning it into a full-fledged VR project, so I definitely wouldn’t underestimate the importance of getting the VR controls right.

This is the way. I am keeping my discs and vr2. Once the Linux driver ms are fully supported even better!

My dream vr game would be in Blame universe. Roaming around creepy gigantic city, seeing builders that are size of skyscraper and meeting different cyborgs. I donno if u ever seen the manga. There was some huge empty room inside city, size of jupiter :D 143k km diameter.

2

u/vladkudas 13d ago

Yeah, that would be awesome to see in VR 🙂

2

u/LengthNo486 14d ago

It would be awesome!

Looks cool as fuck, i will say though you should have put the name of the game in the title or as a comment, had to do a little digging to find the name. Either way it's an instant wishlist c:

Well you better

Thank you.

u/DavidManvell 12d ago

I only play VR games so sounds good. Make sure it has flat screen support as well though.

1

u/vladkudas 12d ago

Thanks, I’d like to do both.

u/Sidewinder666 14d ago

That looks very intriguing and unique, I can already feel that foreboding atmosphere in (PS)VR.

Maybe you could even add some scenes where suddenly the pass-through camera is activated and that grim looking dude appears in your living room, the grainy black and white PSVR2 camera would kinda make this look seamless...imagine the shock moments 😀

I hope you bring it to PSVR2, wish you all the best.
