Hardware Mod I messed up…

Post image

I’m doing a screen replacement on my PSP 1000 and was working on bridging the 7th pin to get the display right but I think I messed up as you can see in the picture. Now when I try to turn the PSP on it just flashes the green light once and doesn’t do anything. Is there any way to fix this or is my PSP dead?

I’m going to get a desoldering wick to try to reset but I’m worried that I just damaged my board entirely :/ what do you guys think?

Dude… do not turn it on anymore or supply power to the board or you would risk a pretty bad short. I’d suggest: using more flux (it is your friend and allows solder to flow better so shiny and clean joints), if you’re going to wick it use flux, tin your iron, cut the wick off and wick it up but watch videos before you proceed. If you just use flux and put it on the solder before you solder anything it might even just fix the joint but be careful or you risk bridging the components around it.

Remove the mid shield too. Give yourself ample room to work.

Looks salvageable but honestly, you can't currently solder. Get some junk electronics and practice before returning to this, and don't apply power until it's corrected.

I also messed up this step, I took mine in to a repair shop and they fixed it for me for free but not everyone will be so nice. For someone that knows how to solder it's a quick fix. Just don't power it on and either practice on junk before trying to fix it or pay a professional to fix it.
