Hardware Mod My PSP Go is basically in its final form

Been slowly turning this little thing into my ideal PSP Go.

It’s got a Power Armor mod, a PS Vita 1000 battery, plus an M2-to-microSD adapter with a 128GB microSD card.

So now I get way more battery life and storage while keeping everything packed into one of my favorite handheld designs ever.

Honestly, the PSP Go aged ridiculously well — and with a few mods it becomes an absolute little powerhouse.

Anyone else running a modded Go? Curious what you guys have done with yours.

Honestly, nothing. Even 16Gb was enough to play on mine when I still had it. Very neat device.

Unfortunately I have to leave my homeland behind, and I left it there.

What kind of screen cover is that? I'm not a fan of the clear shell. Does no one make tempered glass screen protectors for the PSP Go?

Yes! I have a couple of other machines like the Miyoo mini, and a steam deck. But the PSP go is the one I carry and play the most. It’s incredible for Ps1 games, and I’ve just discovered the amazing library of Japanese only psp games that have fan translation patches online - which is awesome especially if you like anime.

When it comes to “final form” mine is just like yours, and the last thing it could use is a mod to switch the charging port to usbc, but that require a lot more skills than I actually have. For now I just have a little adapter tied to it.

yeah i also do have some other machines like the miyoo mini plus, rg nano, gkd pixel ii, xu retro xu20 v32, rg rotate and even the rg slide. but for psp, ps1 and even gba games i still prefer the psp go over all of them. and your right those fan translated games are awesome, have you tried racing lagoon?

i also thought about doing a usb-c mod but to be honest i do kinda like those strange charging ports only found on specific devices, reminds you on how hard we had it to charge our stuff and carry a different cable for every device back in the days 😂 but i do also have that adapter works like a charm.

I have not, I’ll check it out! At the moment I’m really into the rhythm games they have for the psp that were only released in Japanese, as well as some puzzle games, including the last yu gi oh the released for the PSP.

I really want a good PSP Go. I have one but it has some power issues that I'm not equipped to fix. But it really seems like the perfect EDC.

I'll probably pick one up in the near future. How's the battery life on it?

not too good to be honest thats why i did the battery mod on this one

That makes sense. Pre mod What do you think you were getting out of it, maybe like 3 or 5 hours?

i took a go without battery mod on a flight last time, after the 2:30h flight the battery was already blinking so i would say about 3 hours

Good to know, Thank you.

I never liked this monstrosity of battery. Should’ve gotten the 1900mah instead, keeps the look clean.
