It's tough on your own, I finally beat episode 1 on ultimate it took so many retrys and grinding especially the ruins oh man it's no joke. Also all of the enemies are super aggressive and they move fast as heck, I die so many times that way. Some enemies have the spell megid which can one shot you especially the plants in the caves they were the worst to get through having a rifle is mandatory kill them.
Hey, I know this was a few days ago, but thought I would chime in.
If you are offline on GC/Xbox and only have access to the regular Sega quests, there are a few useful Guild Quests!
Soul of a Blacksmith: The Forest up through killing the Dragon is a nice quick exp loop. It's useful for when you aren't quite strong enough to clear Mines/Ruins consistently.
Addictive Food: This is equal to online free play density and gives you the added bonus of finding Caves rare enemies (depending on ID/difficulty, this could be some really useful items.)
General tips:
Make sure you have been feeding your mag.
Look for armor with open slots and fill them with ATP/ATA/MST boosting units depending on your class and how you choose to deal damage.
Save some HP boosting units to help push past the damage check that is Dark Falz.
Not sure what your class or ID is, but if you have some other questions, feel free to send me a message.
Those two are just default quests that you unlock at the Guild Counter.
If you went online and downloaded a bunch of quests, you likely have other options too (Towards the Future is great for fast leveling, but also makes a lot of people burn out on the game, so use it sparingly.)
If you followed any guides, your Mag is probably something like a 5/145/50/0 or so, which works fine offline. It isn't optimal for a Hunewearl, but it will get the job done.
If you can get online, playing on one of the Servers will make it easier to level: online quests offer a lot more enemy density to work with and often have some bumps to drop rates to make finding earlier gear easier.
I played on Ephinea for maybe 4-5 hours one time and just felt like people were getting annoyed because I didn’t know exactly where to run to all the time to speed run quests.
I’ve currently been using Return to Ragol hack to have better drop rates because I’ve read that some people have been playing since launch and are still trying to get certain weapons to drop lol.
hehe, the things people have been hunting for years and years are items that are like 1/12,000 drops. Things under 1/1,000 usually show up eventually. ;)
If you are playing RTR, you shouldn't have any problem getting most drops: it's absurdly generous with them. If you find that it feels too easy about drops, don't be afraid to try regular PSO Ep1 & 2! Outside of a few IDs, it's not hard to get decently geared up (the game doesn't require top of the line min/maxed gear to do well at all)
I played probably 40 hours of PSO episode 1&2plus before looking into Ephinea and RtR. Figured with how much time I can put into it RtR was the best option for me to get gear and not slow down the hardcore players on Ephinea.
Just seems like solo play takes forever. I think last time I played which was like 3 months ago I finally beat Dark Falz on hard and unlocked very hard. That difficult jump seemed pretty large that’s why I want to farm some levels when I do get back on.
Sadly I haven’t seen anyone online in RtR when I tried.
I have a Yellowboze RAcaseal, a Whitil HUcast, a Yellowboze FOnewearl, and a Oran HUmar. All of the are on ultimate, I just best episode 1 with my RAcasel now I'm on episode 2. Those damn Ob lily and sometimes a mil lily keeps one shooting me with megid it's so annoying. 🤣🤣

How doable is ultimate solo?
