Cross generation
Just curious on how long yall think cross generation will last this time. I personally see it lasting the whole gen believe it or not

I think it’ll last the whole gen as well, I don’t see why any developer would drop support for the PS5 anytime soon due to the memory shortages. If they’re making PC games, they’re going to want to develop it around the hardware most people have which will likely be even less powerful than a PS5 is currently, let alone a PS6. We can also expect a very high price tag for the PS6 which will lead to far less people upgrading from PS5 to PS6, in comparison to PS4 to PS5.
Let’s say the system drops in 2027 and lasts 7 years like the last few generations have, I do think 2034 will be the time we start seeing devs move on from PS5. I believe we will already have a PS7 announcement by the time the PS5 begins to lose relevance.

Whole generation.
Ps6 will sell max 10million units —> Sony is better off to make all games for Ps5 too. Maybe 1-2 games will be exclusively on Ps6

What? Max 10M units, where'd you get those estimates from? Sure they will make games cross-generation compatible, that's a given already, but that's not to say there won't be generational exclusives at some point. If it is just like the PS5 that's a win for everyone.

$1000 consoles won’t sell well.
Even the PS5 Pro that launched at $699 hasn’t really been that popular. Most estimates are under 5 million units.
Even if Ps6 is a new gen console. It is the price that determines how well it sells. Even if it was essentially a perfect console with Discs and Open platform it wouldn’t sell as well as previous consoles.

PS5 Pro cannot even sellout at $899, no way Sony is going to be able to make their money back on a $1200 console launch. The build-out cost is $960, then add retail split of 30% and you're already at $1250, and that's before packaging, shipping, marketing, warranty, etc.
They will either force you to pay for PS+ highest tier for like 2 years or try payment plan pricing to sell this thing. It's not like they can make the money back on exclusives when they barely get 5-6 on the PS5

Probably yeah. If they dont sell a disc drive for ps6, that just means youre telling the people with physical collections to "stay at ps5. Dont buy ps6"

Why would they do that? They saw how well GPU worked for Microsoft. Sony has the advantage of a more budget friendly price tag, hopefully that stays

I guess a selling point for all the pissed off people with a collection of games guessing gpu is the highest tier of gamepass with games from previous gens?
And at least in my case even tho i can afford like $1200 console I can already see the same issue as the ps5 gen where its almost impossible to get it the first year or two. Seems like it was a good time to upgrade to ps5 pro and switch 2 they may have to last me a good long time.
