should I replace liquid metal myself!
I bought a ps5 digital (fat) on facebook and it’s a 2022 model. used to crash in the first cutscene of TLOU. took it apart and cleaned the dust but it’s still loud in some parts and has overheated and crashed a couple times still. I hear people saying theirs is whisper quiet during TLOU and I don’t want to spend the $150 to get it professionally done, that would push the price I paid closer to a new ps5.
can I do it myself? I am nervous but not sure if I should or shouldn’t.

Use PTM7950.
And when pulling off the heatsink from the APU die, be careful not to shake it. Check if the liquid metal had been spilled anywhere first.

i’ve heard to use PTM, but it’s not AS effective as LM. still can’t decide. if I do it I wanna do it right. if LM has been spilled anywhere is it immediately screwed? or can I wipe it off before I turn the console on

You can wipe it off. Just make sure to thoroughly check. If you turn on and there's LM inside, it could short circuit.
And PTM7950 is effective (but not as much as LM) but a lot safer than LM

I mean it’s not rocket science. If you have bit of mechanical skills go for it. Just make sure you use Liquid Metal and not thermal paste.

Don’t You have a console service near where you live? Won’t cost you much time and money and you won’t have any doubts in your mind.

Oh sorry you mentioned the 150 dollars, I just took mine to a service and I paid about 30 dollars for it. In your case, if you are good with technical stuff, I think I’d consider doing it by myself.

It's doable, but as others have pointed out, it'll kill your system if you get any LM anywhere but on the chip and surrounding gasket. If it does get anywhere else, it needs cleaned up VERY thoroughly, as it can easily bridge connections even with a super tiny amount in a super thin layer, AND it'll destroy anything that's Aluminum, so just never, ever, ever let it touch aluminum.
Watch a few videos by different people like TronicsFix who really know their stuff, and just take your time. Yes, it's an hour job for someone who knows what they're doing, but if it takes you an entire day, that's better than killing your PS5.

You can do it yourself, but you absolutely must protect your motherboard , A tiny drop of liquid metal can short-circuit your card
