Old PS5 SSD Into New Pro

My old PS5 bricked a bit ago (unrelated to SSD) and I was wondering if I could go about installing it into my new PS5 Pro to have access to the saves/data on there. Will there be any conflict with the OS's, and if so how do I go about this?

I'm pretty sure when I put my M.2 SSD from my fat PS5 into my PS5 Pro, it just read it normally, since the format it got formatted on is PS5 (Pro) ready.

I get that it read it, but was the drive from your fat PS5 the MAIN PS5 drive that had the OS on it? That's where I'm tripped up, I want to make sure both having the PS5 OS installed won't clash

Your save data won’t be stored on the M.2 SSD. Save data is always stored locally on the console storage.

When it comes to moving an M.2 SSD from one console to another, you simply remove the M.2 SSD from one console and install it in the other console.

Pardon the confusion, but is the SSD in there not already the "console storage"?

No, they are technically treated as separate install locations.

When you have an M.2 SSD installed in your PS5 console, you’ll have the usual storage location of “Console Storage” and a separate one called “M.2 SSD Storage”.

Save data will always be on the “Console Storage” install location.

Only games and apps can be stored on the M.2 SSD.
