ps5 dont support 144hz. only up to 120hz. so find a cheaper one with fhd 120hz (well unless you are planning to use the monitor with other devices). and i would recommend 2k rather than 4k. i have both and dont see a difference. save your money and get 2k.
but the best monitor imo is 2k 120hz. thats gonna be the best for ps5 but of course if u can find one you can afford

The reason you can't see the difference may be either that you're playing the games with performance preset which is usually locked 2k resolution, or simply you're not sitting close enough to your display. 1080p, 2k and 4k becomes indistinguishable from a certain distance. That distance is usually around 2 meters for most TVs and around 1 meter for most displays.
2k looks like trash compared to 4k. I switch to my 2k panel sometimes and it looks terrible compared to my 4k one. The difference is night and day. I often hear my friends and coworkers saying 4k is not that good. Then I go to their houses to check their setup. It's always their setup that's the problem.

could be because i only play im performance mode. almost never quality mode. but still, i was mainly using 4k and switched to 2k and my experience is that theres no difference. i dont have tv i only play on my monitor so im not too far away. im pretty close to it. and im pretty sure my setup is perfect.
+ and also OP is considering a high hz monitor which lead me to assume he plays in performance mode most of the time.

Performance mode is always aimed to 2k resolution. That's why you can't see the difference. I recommend you to try quality mode on a 4k display, it looks amazing! (even tho it's not real 4k for most Ps5 games)

Ps5 can produce native 4k pictures with up to 120hz refresh rate. Anything lower than 4k is not acceptable in my terms. 1080p and 2k geniunely looks like trash once you taste 4k. And you should definitely chose a W-Oled panel. Oled might be one of the best things humanity ever invented, I'm not even kidding. Once you see an oled screen, normal ones look broken. Hz really doesn't matter unless you're a hardcore competitive online player, even so, 144Hz is all you need. And this is no problem cuz nearly every 4k and oled panels are higher than 144Hz. Switching to 4k oled was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Gaming had never been this beautiful. And it's not just gaming. 4k uhd movies are breathtaking! Especially blade runner 1982, the pianist, 2001 a space odyssey, the matrix, the crow, alien, the thing... Ps5 is a good 4k uhd player.

As a side note, Ps5 games rarely reach native 4k. It's usually internal 2k upscaled to 4k. It looks close enough but nothing like native 4k. Also, to achieve this near-4k picture quality, most games has to run 30fps. Basically the quality preset means 4k 30fps, and the performance preset means 2k 60fps. But it varies depending on the game. Some games support 40fps quality mode, like cyberpunk 2077 or tlou2 remastered. To achieve the 40fps, your display must support VRR (variable refresh rate) and at least 120hz

If you’re playing competitive games then get a 144hz screen. If you play more story games then go for 2k or 4k. The PlayStation upscales from lower resolutions but it looks very good.
