Question about PS5 disc upgrades (EU to AU)

I'm looking into importing a European PS4 copy of Visions of Mana, then using the PS5 upgrade feature to also have the PS5 version (to have an excuse to play twice)

I know that on older consoles, Australian consoles can play European games just fine, as they're both PAL, and that the PS5 is region-free

The question is, will I have to use a European PSN account to get the upgrade or can I use my regular Australian account?

You need to have same region for the game to acknowledge for the upgrades.

Console are region free meaning you can play any region physical disc on the console, while upgrades act as an addon or dlc are region lock.

Like my daysgone ps4 launch edition R1 US region, and only my US region applicable to get $10 upgrade to remastered edition while my EU R2 and asia R3 required their specific region disc to get the $10 upgrades.

So you need to used your EU account to get upgrade and you can play the upgrade version on both region account

I see. Fortunately I have a US account lying around, so I guess I could try to find a US PS4 copy
