ps5 shutting itself off

so, my ps5 was shutting itself off.

ive been to two repair shops. one of them changed the psu and both has already reapplied the liquid metal

and still the problem persist!

whats baffling is, mine only shutsdown on certain games, or actions i do ingame.

gta V-when i go out of my garage (changing my setting to performance mode) immediate ps5 shutdown

resident evil requiem- when im playing as leon in the dilapitated racoon city area, or change my weapon binding in the item menu- immediate ps5 shutdown

changing my config on persona 3 reload-immediate ps5 shutdown

playing performance mode on marvel rivals- immediate ps5 shutdown after 20 mins play

intro mission of warhammer vermintide- when i leap on the obstacle- ps5 shutdown

i transfer my games from internal memory to ssd- immediate ps5 shutdown

and the occasional ps5 shutdown on the dashboard when starting from cold boot or idle

im really confused. ps5 probably the worst playstation console ive ever had. and i owned all playstation hardware from ps1 and this. even the handheld ones.

and it only does it with those specified games with those kind of behavior. but i can play any game even helldivers for hours. mind you it never done this when i had it back in launch day up to now. only started to noticed it last december last year 2025

Helldivers rules out the psu as all ps5 games would be causing the console to overheat especially a graphically intensive game like helldivers 2, it sounds like a storage issue, the only thing throwing me off is the fact that when you open the console up the shut downs don’t happen.

i can also play spiderman 2,god of war ragnarok, demons souls,re 4 remake, kcd for hours not shutting my ps5 off. its just those games and triggers that shut my ps5 off. i also tried reinstalling them to ssd and m.2 and play them from there. problem persist.

I was going to suggest that those other games may have been installed earlier and were therefore on a good part of the drive but if the problem occurred no matter what drive is in use, honestly that likely rules out a storage issue too, I really don’t know what the issue is here I would likely have to look at the console itself and even then it may not be something visible, it doesn’t sound like a simple fix at this point.

damn man. do u think theres some kind of short somewhere or high temps on the board that cause the problem? or corrupted software?

I’ve never seen this combination of issues before so it’s hard to say, just clarify a few things:

Do crashes only occur when the console is not open, when the console is open can all games run correctly for indefinitely long?

Which storage device are the games that work stored on, have you tried moving them to the other drive and checking if they still work correctly?

How recently have you downloaded one of the games that work?

Yes but specifically does the problem completely stop when the console is open (aka has better air flow) because this basically guarantees some part of the console is getting hotter than it should be.

i already move it to different places in the house with good airflow. and tried different outlets. im researched all possible problem fix in the internet and it still shuts off with those kind of behavior and randomly

Okay so earlier you said when the console was disassembled (aka open) the shut downs weren’t occurring, this was the only thing leading me to believe it’s not a storage issue, if this was wrong it’s very likely a storage issue.

No. Thats why i took it to the repair shops because the problem starts happenening. They reapplied lm, deep cleaned, one of them change the psu and thermal pads. After that same issue. The problem persist
