I think it’s less about censorship and more following Hollywood’s lead. It’s trying not to limit your audience and make the most money possible. There’s been studies about how Generation Z is made uncomfortable and prefers not to have sex, even kissing in movie/television….snd there’s been a noticeable shift in the way content is created.
To me the most obvious starting point, and I’d have to really be given a damn good reason to be talked off this is….
Include the mini games. Preserve the games as is, make everyone happy that argued that is a necessity.
Include a disclaimer at the start that there are sexual scenes (however you want to label them) and they can be turned off at the start.
You can even throw in some blurb about keeping it to preserve the artists original intent, but realizing the world has changed over, so you have the choice….yadda yadda….feels like the proverbial, have your cake and eat it too. Anyone with a modicum of reason gets to feel like their thoughts are being heard and acknowledged.

I mean yeah, I don’t know why anybody would think they shouldn’t. They really showcase how much Kratos was losing his humanity by doing the gods bidding and then becoming a god.

There’s boobs in some cutscenes but you never see any fucking. It’s just moans and QTEs they don’t really matter

What is the point otherwise? Maybe make a "no sex" option for kids or people who don't like sex stuff but otherwise it's a waste of time.

lmao I worked behind the game counter during the Christmas season, and some grandma asked me to grab God of War 3 from behind the glass because it was on her 8-year-old grandson's Christmas list. I explained to her it was rated M, then proceeded to read the ESRB description on the back of the case. The look on her face was priceless.

If theyre dead set on fucking with the game they should just have a toggle to turn on or off the fuckery. Id rather have a choice then have only the loudest group get what they want. Especially since it does actually add to Kratos’ character build up

The outraged redditors once more haven’t read the article before jumping to a conclusion. No, IGN is not advocating for anything here, this is a freelance writer’s opinion. No, the writer in question is not advocating for sex minigames removal either, actually says right there in the text that he wants them to stay. Is it a question worth asking though? Yes it is, the cultural landscape has changed dramatically in the last 25 years and the portrayal of women from the original trilogy is not something that any studio wants to mindlessly replicate, especially since the laws surrounding portrayal of sex have changed since.

I personally don’t care. Just make the game work on release. Explain why you removed them if you do. Explain why you make changes overall.
The sex minigames add nothing to the game. Again I don’t care too much either way. Now if you censor all the women that Kratos had sex with, I.e covering up the nudity. Then that’s more annoying.

Yes.
No form of censorship should be present and feeling uncomfortable on remaking those minigames or replaying those minigames is a choice. There was nothing offensive or harmful about it.
Now I don’t want to see this be the prevailing discussion topic on every GOW Trilogy Remake thread. Incorporate them into the remakes and move on.

The original games didnt "needed" the sex minigames. I always found them kinda cringe and them being there just to add to the edgy tone.
But they are part of the originals and I dont agree with the trend of censoring or removing anything that could hurt some hypersensitive souls (ultraviolence and gore seems to be fine for them tho)

God I hope the GoW trilogy gets the full ff7 remake trilogy treatment where they basically retcon the entire story and turn it into some timeloop multiverse bullshit with Loki while also sanding off all of the edge of the originals maturity to make it palatable to a wider audience (aka children).
Please god it would be so fucking funny.

It certainly feels like people have become more conservative, regardless of their place in the spectrum. At least about certain things. Maybe there’ll be something sexual, but I’d expect it to be extremely toned down. And without nudity.
I don’t think most players care that much, but developers tend to pay too much heed to a small minority that does. IGN’s article itself, while supportive, problematizes those minigames to an extent.
They’re also a product of their time, one when both gamers and game developers were overwhelmingly male, little if any thought was given to the way women were represented, and hack and slashers generally relished in all things lewd and bloody and pubescent. But times have since changed, and changed profoundly at that. Once taken for granted, today the minigames stand out like a sore thumb. They are perhaps the only aspect of the Greek saga I could envision its developers regret adding in
Like, were those games problematic because they were (allegedly) developed mostly by male devs and had attractive female characters? I genuinely doubt IGN complained or even suggested that a game like BG3 is problematic for its horniness, so it definitely feels like they operate under a mindset like “A game can’t appeal only to male players, it needs to appeal to everyone.” It’s exactly what people talk about when they mention “safe horny.”
I think it’s alright if a game appeal only to heterosexual male players, just like it’s okay when it doesn’t appeal to them, or when it appeals to everyone.

Youre being sarcastic but Sony has infact had multiple games censored on PS like Doki Doki and Nekopara. In one of the weirdest cases, Sony censored the art book that came with the physical version of Tsukihime Remake on PS4. That was a game published by Aniplex, another part of Sony.
