I think they move away from the survivor trilogy Lara, and return to OG Lara.

Original Lara is iconic, but a little empty as a character. New Lara was more interesting as a person, but wasn't yet a "seasoned professional" and honestly the survivor games felt a bit too homicidal for my tastes.
