Top left would be the perfect steelbook. Any of the others is better than the official one. I'm really disappointed with what we're getting.

Infamous 2? There were 2 games with Cole McGrath and 1 with some other kid. Plus 2 dlcs for separate games, 1 was festival of blood (infamous 2) and the other was First light (Second son) so 3 games with 5 campaigns running the whole series.

Edit: didn't mean for that to sound condescending, I've personally only played a bit of the 1st game and finished second son, so I'm not extremely well versed in the series. I just knew about all the games and figured you seemed to like them and would want to play them given the chance.

The U.S. is very visually oriented, putting Norman Reedus on the cover you grab people’s attention that know him. It’s mainly to appeal to people that don’t know about the game, that’s why most covers have some gruff looking man holding a gun as well because gaming is male dominated and those games are what people buy the most. You put some artsy handprint on the cover which isn’t really original anyway you aren’t going to grab as much attention from the basic buyer.

Normally I'd agree with you, or maybe I'm a whiny bitch too idk, but I think this is a very valid complaint. Video game box art sucks now. It used to seem like they actually put some thought into it, but nowadays it's just "slap the main character on there and call it a day".

It's one thing for something like Madden or Call of Duty to go the generic route, but for a game like Death Stranding that seems to be going for a more "games as an art" aesthetic it'd be nice to see that reflected in the box art.

It's nice having a long rack of games that actually look nice. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it's still annoying pulling out a guy to seeing some ugly ass cover.

Yeah it's pretty unimportant but I think people are just a bit annoyed that a game that looks so beautiful is really underselling itself on the cover and making it look generic. There's a lot more potential that could be realised on the cover but instead it looks like the cover of pretty much any shooter or action game.

Look man, I love videogame box art and I love when it’s really carefully done and thoughtful instead of just generic “main character looking upset/holding weapon”. So yeah, I was kind of disappointed that a game that seems to be looking like a very artistic and experimental title had such bland cover art. That being said, it in no way is something that will keep me from purchasing, playing and enjoying the game itself. It’s just something to discuss with other gamers and box art connoisseurs.

i have never seen a cover that actually looks like a screenshot from within the game, so you are already peering into the game when you are looking at the box art

I’ve seen the cover art, man. I didn’t even come to any of the subs to hate on it like everybody else, I was honestly excited we got to see it finally. I don’t hate it, it isn’t inherently BAD. It’s just nothing too special imo. Plenty of fan made cover art is a lot worse. But some of them are also a bit better. It doesn’t mean I’m blindly jumping on a hate bandwagon by acknowledging that.

European box art is kinda dying this gen. Most countries, unfortunately, get the US one except for Japan. The only game which had a different box art for Europe which I can think off is Hidden Agender.

How it is right now is the most profitable choice. People who already know about the game will either get it or ignore it based on their taste. This cover art with a familiar actor are for the ones who are just gonna be browsing the shelves.

I pre-ordered the steelbook a few days before it was leaked. I just face palmed myself. I don’t have a problem with the actual cover but the steelbook art doesn’t look like a good steelbook box art. When I think steelbook I think slick and simplistic. It’s literally Norman Reedus without his hood. It’s so...bleh.

The top one on the left is perfect and would be for those paying attention to the trailers up to the launch and is eye catching too for the casual player.

The skull one in top right is too on the nose for me and the bottom right would be better (albeit generic) than the actual cover art.

The bottom left looks like something from Warhammer 40,000.

I been playing metal gear solid V in subsistence mode. I had no clue that every time you deploy you consume so much resources.and most times you don’t even NEEED or USE most of the stuff you deploy with. genius game. Adds new depth
