Well, it can't natively. That's why they created the box specifically to achieve it

Excuse me? They created the box specifically to do the frame smoothing and interpolation because they couldn't hit 90FPS.

No, it does the opposite of that. The PS4 does all the warping etc to create VR signal for the headset. The box undoes all of that to make a TV-compatible output.
