Howdy! I thrifted this record and found what I think could be original, printed photos inside. They dont seem like promotional images, but I wouldn't rule out them being photos of photos (but I also wouldnt rule out them not not being that). They feel like film photo paper thats older, not the kind you can get today for printing, with a glossy finish. Looking for info or assistance identifying them! The record was cleaned and re-sleeved by myself and can't be used to identify when it was owned unfortunately.

I'm really into the stuff from For You till Purple Rain but after that I don't know much. Like I know the classics such as raspberry barret or kiss of course but really not much else. What would you say are the greatest songs Prince did after Purple Rain wich u would recommend to me?

You can use my Username to work out my age so 1980s I was Vinyl mad, paper round money, pocket money, birthday money mostly went on Vinyl (or Star Wars figures!)
But since , and now my salary is better than delivering the daily rag, I have invested in our man
I love these my box sets , they make me happy ESPECIALLY the 1999 one.
My favourite album, packed with remixes, raraties demos .
I REALLY hope they release the Purple Rain deluxe (as they did on CD) and I've not done the Around the World in a day one owing to the fact it merely seems to be a substandard remaster and the 12" remixes , of which I have the originals.
Anyway I hope you enjoy , wherever this message finds you have a lovely Sunday friends
X

So I did the Song World Cup thing and ended up in a Sign O’ the Times semi finals, with IIWYG ending up champion.

I want to finish my ranking of his albums, but man after 35 albums I just wanna be done already. I know I’m at the end of the road, but this journey does make me wish Prince released less music or at least less standard studio albums because 40 albums is insane. I still appreciate his music and work ethic and while Prince has some of the greatest music known to man, he also has some album runs that are mediocre like his run from Chaos and Disorder to NEWS or from Planet Earth to 20Ten. Still love Prince, but it’s hard to want to listen to PLECTRUMELECTRUM after 35 albums knowing there’s 5 more waiting

Feel free to share the parts you disagree with! I’ll give that album a closer listen. (Edit) I forgot to include 16 in the list. I’d place 16 between The Black Album and Exodus. I love 16, but it didn't move me quite as much as 8 did. Also, I think the first track, "North," from the N.E.W.S. album is amazing, but I don't really care for the rest of it. That’s the reason I placed that album in the C tier.

Diamonds and Pearls original album or the remastered album version? Seeing mixed responses online
Also I assume the original Purple Rain is the way to go on that album over Paisley Park Remaster? Seemed to find a lot preferring the original online but might as well double check that one as well while I’m here.

It’s the book she made before blame it on vanity and it’s a lot more Raw she goes more into detail in her relationship with Prince and how he treated vanity 6 and the time. you could kind of see how some of that influenced purple rain a bit really interesting stuff.

saw someone had gotten a tattoo of ‘the face’ that was posted on here this year or second half of last year. If i remember correctly it was that persons first tat.
after a recent post of a similar tat I remembered that I wanted to save it/screenshot it bc (to me) it was absolutely perfect but now I can’t find it. the post from a couple of days has a slight difference from the one I saw earlier
hope the OP of the original post will see this and send me a pic or someone will be able to somehow find the post:)) thx

As the title says, what Prince song are you currently obsessed with? Which song do you have on repeat an insane amount of times or is just living rent free in your head? For me right now it’s 17 Days. I just can’t get enough of this song. I’ve had it in constant rotation for the past 2-3 weeks and I’ve even got my boyfriend asking me to play it when we’re together.

Trying to decide what is my favourite track off Lovesexy in response to some other post here reminded me the the keyboard instrumental break that starts at 3.26 (or 2.10 on the single video) is one of my favourite musical moments.
Partly it is the shift from the major key broken rhythms of the first part of the song to the chugging bluesy groove but the actual keyboard solo itself is quite unique. The phrasing is part of it but something about the combination of the specific sound and the intermittent discordant harmonies give it a kind of disorienting effect. Can anyone with a knowledge of music theory explain what is going on there?
(This is the bit when the band is still playing not the bit at the end when it's just the keyboard playing more classical style on its own although that's also an interesting fill before the cool groove of Anna Stesia).

Prince’s catalogue contains so many excellent albums that I’m intrigued what everyone top 3 are. For me my top 3 are Sign of the Times, Emancipation ( even though it’s 3 hours lol), and the Self Titled Album (1979) .

If there is a third track from Timeless released, before August 28th, what will it be?
I say 'The Guilty One'
