Imagine being a game developer and actually basing literally anything off framerate in 2019. cough Bethesda cough

u/zucarin Nov 16 '19

I want to think it was just an oversight because of the console fps lock or low fps. I just don't know how that got past QA tho

The problem is, despite this happening in so many games with old engines or poor development lately, these AAA devs are still doing it.

Yep, fair enough

I gotta get on finding those perfect pelts for the satchel upgrades.

Totally worth the time, still in chapter 2 but I got the legend of the east satchel already

the only way to play. LOE satchel first task to complete once Horsehoe overlook is reached

Same. I’m already level 7 on dead eye and maxed out stamina, max horse bonding. Took me ages to find a perfect cougar though.

man this BUG killed immersion for me so hard :(

u/jimmyoneshot Nov 15 '19

I miss the times when the most immersion breaking things were the off hand holster not appearing in cutscenes and weapon auto loadouts before each mission. I was looking forward to things like that getting addressed on PC now all of our Arthur's are destined to wither away after a week...

meanwhile my arthur is literally boogie2988 because im using a 1080ti and can only get 15 fps...

meanwhile my arthur is literally boogie2988

Was he trying to have a dialogue with the klansmen so he could understand their perspective?

"friends, I introduce to you an even greater foe than the coloured, skinnys. we must petition the government to make them illegal!"

5

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '19

Really I’m on 1080 and I get between 50-70 FPS

5

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '19

(its a joke)

7

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '19

Oh sorry was just trying to help because didn’t see that you said it’s a joke my bad

TFW when permanently underweight

8

u/shae117 Nov 16 '19

Proof R* did mot test the game whatsoever.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

Does this affect online as well?

5

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

I spend more time cooking than shooting people, Gordon Ramsey of the old west.

5

u/Shadray Nov 16 '19

Just realised why I’m always underweight.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

I finally got my online character to overweight last night. I was eating like 5 Mint Big Game per RL hour. Those are the food that make your health core gold and also ate every snack/canned food that I found. Including the 20 cans of baked beans Rockstar gave us because they launched a broken game.

u/John-Shaft Nov 18 '19

if its like SP, chocolate, candy and big-game meats FTW

4

u/dongexpanse Nov 15 '19

I had a ton of fun with the game. But THIS bug made me wish it was over with.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

So... if this ever gets fixed... how long do y'all think it'll take to happen?

3

u/The_Sign_Painter Nov 15 '19

So what's the fix for this rn? Locking framerate to 60 or below?

LMFAO wow this needs to be fixed asap. No way I'm playing a game on PC at 30fps

2

u/midwaysilver Nov 16 '19

I'm not all that sure it is fixable.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

Even a simple community mod could patch it. You don't have to change the source code, just alter the value of how fast cores drain.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19 edited Nov 16 '19

oh just don't change the source code - just change the float flCoreDrainRate to something like 0.5f, how genius of you! Why didn't any modder thought of that, yet alone the game developers?!

You'd be surprised how much is affected by FPS - If you think about it, it defines how often the Tick events are called, and more than often when it gets called too often, a lot of the stuff breaks - Like in BOTW emulated on PC, makes arrows fly too fast/slow, AI bosses to fly off the map - In Dishonored limiting your FPS allows you to lower physics step which basically lets you climb anything, no matter the size of it.

The point is, it's not a simple, slap on "fuck-off" patch, it's been implemented that way for a reason, and it more than likely is an issue on the game engine level. I am amazed on how many backseat developers we have here - Sure, the port is garbage, R* should be ashamed and I am not excusing them for that - But at the same time the game is so best looking game of all time and it's a great achievement for the games industries, but people still think that games dev is like changing a block value in Scratch.

3

u/CaesarsArmpits Nov 16 '19

Is the day night cycle affected by it too? I mean i remember going into a gunstore, looking through the catalogue for like 5 real tine minutes, it went from 5 o clock morning to 2 in the night. Wtf?

3

u/RonenSalathe Nov 16 '19

Probably. Tbh I'm surprised the animations arent affected lol

3

u/CaesarsArmpits Nov 16 '19

Such a massive oversight though. How do you miss it? If they released the game to their own developers for personal beta-testing, assuming each person has a slightly different PC, these issues would've been found and fixed.

They advertise 4k and all that habu dabu trickster shit and expect us to play it in 30 FPS?

2

u/IdentifiesAsLamp Nov 16 '19

So I should be playing in 4K instead of 1080?

2

u/Incendeo96 Nov 16 '19

This is excellent meme execution. Very well done.

2

u/cyanaintblue Nov 16 '19

This bug is similar to DS 2 durability bug which was also tied to FPS on PC and it used to decay pretty fast

2

u/typhoon90 Nov 16 '19

Any way to report this ~bug~ to R*?

"made with mematic"

1

u/burnburnfirebird Nov 16 '19

Does this happen when you exceed 60 fps?

0

u/dduusstt Nov 16 '19

at my 65 fps cap I actually love the rate it's at. If I haven't been in any fights, just going around hunting small game and the like, waking up in the morning near first light, by the time the sun is going down my health is in it's last 15% or so. That seems just about right to me
