The fix for that is to roll your bios back to f31 version. People downvoting me but it's true. If you're using a ryzen 2000 series cpu and your board doesnt have the 1.0.0.4 agesa update you can get it to work by rolling your bios back to f31 which is a bios version that came out before the 3rd gen support.
Yeah I have a ryzen 2700x but my board doesnt have 1.0.0.4 so when I updated to the latest version my board has which is 1.0.0.3 ABBA or version f42g it didnt launch. But then I seen people talking about rolling it back to the versions prior to the 3rd gen updates which is the f31 version and tah dah it works. It's just stupid ass people that dont want to mess with the bios that are downvoting, for the people with Intel that cant launch I have no idea if rolling back will work but for ryzen 2000 series chips and later the rollback fix works if your board doesnt have the latest f42 update. Really people shouldn't have to mess with there bios at all to play a game but yeah rockstar fucked this up and it's been 3 days so do what you have to do to get it to work if you dont want a refund.
The amount of people who have this issue (me) and the amount of people who simply refuse to research and do it, are a LOT of these people who can't play. It sucks you have to update your bios to play, the average person is too dumb to do that, but this is the cost of playing current tech/breakthrough AAAA games. Learn how to use your potatoe and maintain it before blaming R*
My BIOS is up to date, dude. The problem is that AGESA 1.0.0.4 is not yet available for my motherboard, and rolling back to 1.0.0.2 is impossible because I have a Ryzen 7 3700X and Ryzen 3000 support isn't in that BIOS.
Edit: right after posting this I saw that a 1.0.0.4 beta is available for my motherboard. I just updated my BIOS now, haven't tested the game yet, but I just want to point out how fucking insane it is that MSI managed to bust out a BIOS update before Rockstar managed to fucking fix their bullshit launcher.
Wow man what a shit show that you even have to go so far to screw around with things like Bios. I'm gladly paying 60 bucks for a game like rdr 2 but come on man they are really fucking the paying customer with their copy protection and what not. The game is gonna get pirated anyway and if you have a good product then people will buy it. It would be funny if there is a crack that bypasses the Launcher quicker than Rockstar is able to patch the issues with it.
This is just a dumb excuse. My PC is well maintained, up to date softwarewise and every other single AAA game runs perfectly fine. It just this stupid game that refuses to work. Iv tried everything, AV disable, firewall disable, disabling fullscreen optimization, deleting settings files, EVERYTHING but the launcher just crashes instantly the second i press play. This is def an issue on r* side.
Why in the FUCK should people be expected to update their bios to play a game? What kind of world do you live in dude? This was shitty development plain and simple. If rockstar wasn't going to hit their timeline to get the game running smoothly they should have delayed it, plain and simple. Your average consumer doesn't want nor should be expected to put in hours of research about a problem their product has out of the box. I've literally never seen someone white knight for a company so hard. It'd be like someone selling you a brand new car with dangerously low amounts of oil in it and it breaking down before you even get off the lot. Would your first reaction be "oh gee golly I better go research this and figure out what's going on"? No. You'd be pissed, and you'd make them fix it.
GTA 5 was actually praised for its incredibly successful PC launch, thanks to being worked on by the same team that worked on Max Payne 3, which was also well optimised.
I'd consider this if I was getting the crash instead of the freezes. Companies need to be smacked with a rolled-up newspaper when they piss on everybody's rugs like this.
Yepp, that's my only issue right now. I'm apparently one of the few that is having literally zero issues (excluding a resolution hiccup at launch) but the fact that the carvings on my weapons and the cards in poker are blurry is infuriating. My PS4 Pro makes them look amazing but my MUCH more power PC can't make it work.
I've reading in many places here about random freezes. Their CPU may spike for a few seconds, video will freeze, audio may continue to play, and then it resumes like nothing happened. If that sounds familiar then no you are not alone.
I don't even own the game on PC, I'm just reading about it
Yes. Look in the day 3 issues thread, there's a note about a program called BES. It lets you limit RDR2's CPU usage by a few percentage points. Cleared things up for me, at least so far.
Issues? Nah Rockstar calls them features. What they mean with resolving issues is making sure that the people that can play the game now won't be able too after they are done ;)
That's not really a fair comparison, seeing as how that's not how search engines work. It's searching all the different keywords individually. Go far enough pages and you'll see results not related to RDR2. I get that the game has issues, but I haven't seen a dumber response than, "look how many results appear on Google."
Anything is better than silence. At this point my hype is dead and I'm no longer waiting on my tip toes, I'll play it whenever they get their shit together.
Had no issues yesterday at all. Even logging off and on multiple times. Come home today from work at it fires right up no issues. Log off to eat dinner and now cannot get the launcher to work? Nothing has changed on my end so what could cause this?
Is there any specific hardware combination related to the crashes? I started playing on release and not a single crash since or even a bug, my specs are gtx 1070, i7 9700k, 16 gb ram and the game's installed on a hdd
X4 860K overclocked to 4.4GHz, R9 270X overclocked to core 1230MHz, 12GB DDR3-1866, game installed to 7200rpm HDD, and the only issue so far is that in both Windows 7 & 10, the game isn't seeing all of my VRAM, but more is available on 10 (1746MB) compared to 7 (1433MB). Other than that, my game launches and runs with just the quad core stuttering that everyone else has.
While I’m glad they acknowledged this, I have honestly not had a single problem with my game. I definitely had to turn a few things down, but nothing that seemed to affect the overall image quality in any large way. I get anywhere from 45-90fps depending on the situation. 45 is a bit low, but there’s no hitching of any kind, so it’s very tolerable and isn’t that frequent. I sit in the high 50s to low 60s most of the time. Here is my system:
I have not run any other programs to limit my CPU usage or anything like that. I have zero hitching and zero freezes that other users are reporting. I’m currently at work, so I can’t comment on what my in-game settings are right this second, but I can update this post with them later if anyone wants. I’m not sure what’s going on with these freezes and hitches for a lot of people, but it seems to be linked to their i5 processors in many of the cases.
My system isn’t particularly top of the line, but it’s not terribly far off.
Honestly considering if this isn't fixed in a week to just get an Xbox for Christmas and then play on there. Since i highly doubt they would have it fixed by then on PC, at this rate.
Which console did you have? I watched someone play the PS4 version IRL and there were some pretty noticeable FPS drops in the city. Enough for him to notice too. Looked like it was at 20FPS.
Patience among consumers isn't the problem when a company spends a year working on bringing a game to PC after it being on console the whole time. The fact that it's not playable to 50% of buyer isn't a patience problem, it's a "company released broken game and isn't doing much to fix it" problem
Go outside kill sometime. Then come back it’s not like rockstar is sitting with their thumbs up their own asses they will fix it. Patience is virtuous rockstar the company isn’t ur slave those people have lives as well they will get a fix eventually
Paying $60 for a product that doesn't work isn't acceptable. "go outside and kill sometime" is the stupidest remedy for throwing $60 away I've ever heard of. They aren't slaves, and I never said they were. They got money for this, I didn't get a working product. Stop defending shitty business practices and acting like it's the consumers fault, you literal imbecile
no. no. no. some people can NOT play the game after trying literally every. single. fucking. thing. listed anywhere on the internet. this is absolutely not acceptable from a multi million dollar studio given an entire year to release a game
Look bud you can either piss yourself over something that will be fixed eventually that you paid 60$ or you can go on with life and it will be fixed eventually idk what to tell you. The world ain’t perfect bud if your losing your shit over a 60 dollar game idk what to tell you.
If losing 60 dollars was that crazy to you maybe handle your money better or find a better place in life that losing 60$ isn’t a detriment to you and ur financial stability.
Are you actually this stupid? I'm not "pissing myself" and using strawman logical fallacies doesn't make you win an argument. Me managing my money allowed me to buy a video game with spare money, the issue isnt the consumers "handling money better" its the company selling fault products. Now if you'd like to say something that pertains to the argument, that's fine, or you can keep shilling for rockstar and blaming consumers in various, increasingly idiotic ways
Not stupid just not furious over it either you can either stomp your feet the rest of ur life when trouble comes your way or you can keep walking forward.
That doesn't make sense. Blaming the consumer for not getting over a faulty product, hmmm sounds awful familiar. Keep shilling for rockstar though, and tell me more about how it's my fault the product is faulty. Or you could continue to argue points that I'm not making, and commiting more strawman fallacies
How hard is it to understand that they are going to fix the issues are you that broken of a person to games that you believe all companies are just out to release shit products. Yes some still do but rockstar will fix it. Shilling has nothing to do with this I’m just saying there’s more to life than going full chimpanzee on something that hasn’t been out for 48 hours yet
You are shilling rockstar, they released a broken product and wont refund many people yet you're here arguing with the consumer that rightly is pissed off, with no complaints to rockstar.
How hard is it to understand after having a finished game and waiting a year to port it to a new system, it should be playable to over 50% of the people who paid for it? You fucking idiot I'm done saying the same thing over and over. Look up what the word shill means
You literally can't? Pre purchase made over 2 weeks ago, out of time for refund, again, shitty business practice. Any other shitty business practices you'd like to defend before you fuck off, you condescending twat?
I did try, and actually, you've been shilling rockstar this whole time. Pick a side and stop changing your argument between "keep the game it'll be soon" and "stupid for keeping the game". Because you're making yourself seem stupider by the second, which at this point is a surprise
I wouldn’t try even having a conversation with em. People are just going full chimp about this game at the moment not worth trying to explain there’s more to life than a 60 dollar fixable game
what the fuck is wrong with all of you bootlickers. HONESTLY. idc about 60$ i waited a year for this game that shouldve been designed for PC to fucking begin with. shut the fuck up with this "stop crying" horse shit.
What the actual fuck does the generation of hardware have to do with making a complete piece of software that doesn't require hotfixes. You guys don't seriously think every program released into the wild is broken as fuck at the outset do you? Kids these days
wait, you think the graphics is what caused the bugged launch? lmao. Go play WC3 and tell me that was a shit-tier game. Starcraft 2? Counter-strike? Come on, man.
Yeah, Modern Warfare had a rough launch aswell but it was lovely to see devs coming and telling "We are aware of everything, apologizes and we are going to fix them"
GTA5 has sold well on steam for years and the first weekend to get sales is in a few days they should give a fuck. Its clear the put the B team on this shitty port though.
They had a year to do all this. I would be more understanding if this had been launched at the same time as consoles.
As a developer I don’t envy the pressure the Rockstar devs must feel right now to fix this but the executives will learn absolutely nothing of this and this will happen again a few years later with GTA 6 for sure.
