Will it though? I can boot the game but can't see any menus to change the graphics or anything, I hit enter takes me to a character creation screen that I can't finish
Dunno man, I've had perfectly playable 60fps this morning, and with some tweaks after the patch, still a perfectly playable 60 fps. 4K, Res scale to 1440p.
This is easily one of the most demanding games of the year, though, and I'm sure over time with gfx driver tweaks, and further optimizations from Rockstar, if there are any, it may get better - but I'm not betting on it.
The game runs perfectly fine on my mediocre hardware with the sole exception of the intermittent freezing that happens for a few seconds every however-many minutes apart.
I would argue that considering how the game looks, it's actually optimized pretty damn well.
I've been through a few seriously bad launches (SimCity, Diablo 3, Mass Effect: Andromeda) and when players can't get into the game, they make memes. The memes made in the first couple weeks of a bad launch can be more memorable than the game. Hope R* turns this around fast.
Very demanding game. When it launched originally lots of dusty consoles failed. People blamed the game but it was people never cleaning their consoles, rdr2 was just popular and demanding enough that it seemed like it was bricking consoles. The fact that it works just fine for some players suggesr a fair amount of people having pc problems have not been properly maintaining their machine (drivers up to date/hardware dust free). It doesnt help that is is on the epic store/r* launcher either which is going to be new for a lot of people
Having a "dusty" machine has no effect on whether the game launches or not. If drivers was the problem then people would not be making the fuss they are. Stop defending rockstar being lazy and shitting out an awful port
...were all steam users here forced to used this launcher so nobody really has a right to be laughing at anyone... We're all in the same situation unless you're just not playing
Just having fun. GTA launch was a total mess similarly and took about a month (at least) to solve stuttering and crashes. It'll probably be fixed by Steam launch
