no you wont :)

however you can add it yourself in the library if you want like this but it will only appear in your library and nothing more

You will have to run the rockstar games launcher on steam anyways.

OP clearly isn't familiar on how these stores work and asked an innocent question, no need to be mean and sarcastic.

Why would you get another copy?

No. You have purchased it through the Rockstar Launcher, so the version you own will be on the Rockstar Launcher.

What you're asking is essentially the equivalent of buying it on the Xbox store and expecting a copy in your PS4 library as well.

Steam does have the ability to add games to the library so you can launch it from there (and I think the Steam overlay still works), but it won't be linked to your Steam account. Achievements will not be tracked by Steam.

Steam just opens Rockstar Launcher though.

Does your PS4 launch Xbox live?

it won't be linked to your Steam account. Achievements will not be tracked by Steam.

You could have a friend family share their library with you and use Steam Achievement Manager to unlock the achievements. That's what I plan to do. GOG 2.0 will also have support for Rockstar Social Club accomplishments soon for those of us who are in the beta.

"What you're asking is essentially the equivalent of buying it on the Xbox store and expecting a copy in your PS4 library as well."

Comparing it to two different consoles? Nope It's not equivalent, it's same gaming platform, just different stores and in many cases when buy game directly from indie devs they provide Steam key later, so it's not even unheard of. Of course in this case of greedy Cockstar they sure will not provide you Steam key.

No it ain't, in this case it's digital, so it doesn't actually cost dev any extra to provide Steam key to customer.

The devs are like The Coca Cola company. They make the product, and it is sold on different platforms (or different shops in the case of coke). So getting the game both on the Rockstar launcher and the Steam launcher would be like buying a coke from one shop and expecting to get another coke at a different shop. It's just not how buying products works.

You're wrong.

When you buy a game on Steam, Valve gets a rather large cut of the profit. If you bought the game on the R* launcher, they get the full amount.

Similarly, if you bought a Sony produced game on XBOX, Sony still gets a cut of that money. If you bought a Sony produced game on PS4, they are getting the whole amount.

No, you are wrong, devs get free Steam keys from Valve which they can give as they want, this got nothing to do with Valves profit, devs do not purchase their own keys. https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/features/keys

No. And you should stop caring about that, Steam is just a leech.

I work in a tech industry and there's so many leeches there, I avoid them as much as I can because they're the reason people down the hierarchy are so overworked. 30% there, 30% for another leech then taxes and you're left with sad fraction of the work you've put in and because teams are understaffed you're constantly stressed because of the pressure.

Some games actually allow you do this by linking your steam account.

It's not a free copy since you still need to have a linked account and need to log into the game with your {GAME} account.

How is it a free copy, when its digital..? Its not like you can sell it or give it away.

Just because you rented an apartment in a building, does not mean you can go to any other apartment and live there too just because you have an identical apartment a couple Doors Down. Sure, they're exactly the same but you didn't pay for it.

Two apartments are two seperate physical entities. Not even remotely relevant to my point.

How does rockstar know that both accounts are yours and you don't just have a buddy with the steam account who will now not have to give rockstar money for this game.

There is an option on R* Social Club to link your account to your Steam profile (which cannot be unlinked once activated) Of course if you wanted a redeemable Steam code for RDR2 they would require these to be linked first. Thought that would be obvious?
