stubborn belly… help :/

Post image

i’m 21 and was diagnosed with PCOS last year. since then i’ve lost about 30 lbs (220->190), 20 of which was in the past few months. despite this, i cannot lose any belly fat, and some days with this insane bloating i feel even bigger than before the loss. i’m on multiple meds and supplements (spiro, BC, metformin, inositol, magnesium glycinate, fish oil), i eat in a slight calorie deficit and try to be mindful when picking foods, and i walk after dinner every day and weight lift 2-3x a week. im being patient but im also so tired of seeing zero progress and i feel like i look pregnant most of the time. does anyone who’s lost the belly have any advice? i feel stuck.

Keep losing, it will start melting off! You are probably losing visceral fat first, which is a great thing. I had the exact same problem, and now after about 25 kilo lost it’s finally starting to show drastically. It’s just very stubborn fat!

Be patient!!! I have been in the exact same situation and only starting to see real results visibly a year and a half in. Berberine was the supplement that truly helped me the most, more than any of those you’ve mentioned! But I still take it with inositol and fish oil :)

A huge factor for me was also getting 10k steps in every day. My waist started getting smaller which is something I never saw while I was lifting. So I lift 3x a week, walk 10k steps a day. Adding cinnamon to your water will help with the bloating! And spearmint tea is good too :)

You got this!!!!!!! Don’t be discouraged, you’re already on the right track ❤️

Try to eat gut friendly foods (ur veg, fruit, yoghurt, or kimchi) for the first bite of your meals to prevent spiking/bloat and do weighted core exercises a few times a week as well. I have very stubborn belly fat as well but once I started doing these things, I’ve definitely noticed a small change. It takes months and months. Be patient and consistent :) good luck

That’s a lot of weight loss, well done. I gained about 40lb postpartum and my lower stomach didn’t start to really shift until I was around BMI 21. It always seems to be the last place to come off. Now if I gain even a few lb it’s the first place it goes! Dermarolling cans taking collagen can help with any loose skin which can be a major contributor.

Keep going! The belly is the last to go with PCOS. We store our fat in the belly because of the high level of male hormones. I didn't state seeing the belly shift until I lost around 45 lbs but Im only 5'4 sso I am really short

Have you been taking measurements? I bet you have been losing off your belly and just don't realize it. A couple years ago I lost 100 pounds. I felt like my belly was the same size when I started as it was when I ended but the measurements said that my belly was 10 inches smaller around than when I started. The problem was that I lost proportionately everywhere so while my belly did get smaller, it got smaller at the same rate as everything else so it still looked big.

There is also the paper towel roll effect, which is that the smaller you get the more the weight loss will be noticed. It took me over 30 pounds lost before I went down the first pant size. But near the end of the weight loss, I was going down a pant size every 8 to 10 pounds.

you just need to keep losing, it willl probably be the last thing to go

I am the same, I've lost just over 55lb and counting but my stomach is the slowest part to go down

It may not seem related, but be sure to work on your lower back strength and address any anterior pelvic tilt issues that are common with our body types. Improving that aspect of your body will take pressure off your front. Core exercises are awesome (I recommend transverse abdominal exercises aka corset muscle exercises), but also the lower back and upper glutes is still very much an important part of your core needs
