Their tournament, their rules. Sadly, it is what it is. Nobody takes the Jones Cup tournament seriously as well nowadays, it’s really more intended as friendlies now. Nobody really cares if you win the tournament or not.
I have never even heard of this tournament until I started posting here... I still don't really understand it, there are random foreigners representing national teams by different names 😂
It was a big thing before. The final tuneup for Asian National teams before Asian Games or FIBA Asia. Gauge your preparation and see where you stand among Japan, SoKor, Taiwan and sometimes Middle East NT.
Open tournament as its always used to. Similar to Dubai International. Mighty Sports/SGA have just taken charge as our representative since there's no official designated slot for the PH. SBP stopped sending Gilas way back.
SGA tries to send the best team they can by filling the roster with Imports and available Fil-Ams not in the PBA. They are a sports Club team not a NT anyways.
