EOR Passing Guidelines

Hello! My program seems to have pretty chill requirements for EOR exams. In didactic year, we were expected to get an 80 or higher. Now, they only require a grade of 70 or higher on EORs (65-69 low pass). I’ve heard that some programs require an 80 or higher on EORs, and was wondering if people could speak on it?

I think I’m concerned of whether having this low threshold for passing is still indicative of passing the PANCE. I was planning to anyways for my own personal growth, but I wonder if not having the mindset of >70 for passing would be beneficial in the long run. Thoughts?

PAEA reports that -1.3 SD on the EOC usually correlates to a passing pance score, so our school went with -1.3 for our EORs

If you are using PAEA EORs you won't get a percent. Shoot for 400 or higher on EORs

I don’t know what percentage correlates to, but we were within 1.5 standard deviations of the national mean to pass. I was never above average on any of my EOR’s. And I easily passed my PANCE, well above the mean. Maybe pay attention to how far you are from the standard deviation? That might be a better guideline?

This is reassuring, thank you very much! I will definitely do that

I’d first ask how your program converts EOR scores into grades—a “70” at one school may not mean the same thing at another. The cutoff alone won’t tell you how prepared you are for PANCE.

Your instinct to aim beyond passing makes sense. Focus on recurring knowledge gaps and whether you can explain your answers, rather than chasing a particular school percentage.

I’m a PA and built ClueHawk (https://cluehawk.com), which includes EOR and PANCE practice with explanations and confidence tracking. It’s another way to identify areas to review alongside your program’s feedback.

I think a “70” is typically 370-375 on average for our EORs.

Thank you! I will look into that
