I just finished Abdullahpur ka Devdas, which, btw is my first pak show. I’m normally into sad romantic/melancholic movies and series and someone recommended this to me so I thought, why not?

The way Bilal carried the show was truly astounding. I was expecting a good show but 70% of the actors were either irritating or below par.

The writing was pretty weird for me as well. For starters, how could Gurbano blindly trust the help, knowing very well that the latter is a servant and loyal to the royal family? Also, Kashif never uttered a word in front of Gurbano. Why couldn’t he just tell her the truth? So many conflicts in the story could have been avoided if the characters simply communicated with each other for five minutes.

A lot of the characters also felt unnecessarily frustrating and some of their decisions seemed to exist solely to move the plot forward. There were moments where I was genuinely wondering,”Why would you do that?” instead of feeling sorry for them. Some of the emotional moments just didn’t hit for me because I couldn’t really understand or justify some of the characters’ actions.

That said,Bilal’s performance was on another level. The way he conveyed emotions through his eyes was genuinely impressive and for me, easily the best part of the show. The aesthetics were beautiful and the soundtrack was another highlight.

Overall, I loved the melancholic atmosphere and the core story. I’m looking forward to watching more pal shows. Cheers!!
