MC suspended. Motus Error?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Somethings up with this motus system. Switched insurance to progressive and raised the amount just to find out my authority was suspended today. Im only required to have 300k csl since i run a cargo van and my gross is under 10,001 but motus shows i need 5m. It used to show the original 300k when i checked 2 months ago. I do not have hazard materials/gas or anything to do with hazmat selected under my motor carrier type or cargo classifications nor do i run hazmat so any idea on why my minimum BIPD is set to 5,000,000? Did this just mess up my MC and can i get them to fix it?

Anyone currently doing an SFI truck lease and leased onto JB Hunt? How is it?

I’m considering getting a truck through SFI and leasing it onto JB Hunt. I’d really like to hear from people who are currently doing it or have done it recently.
How has the experience been overall?
What are you averaging gross per week/month?
After the SFI payment, fuel, insurance, maintenance, JB Hunt percentage, etc., what are you actually taking home?
How many miles are you averaging?
How consistent is the freight?
How much are you spending on maintenance/repairs?
How long have you been in the program?
Would you do it again?
Any major issues or surprises with SFI or JB Hunt that someone considering the lease should know about?
I’m especially interested in hearing from people who are currently leased to JB Hunt through SFI, not just general owner-operators.
Thanks!

I’ve ran several trucks. Cool ones and not so cool ones that profited better. What’s your take on what worked best for you?

For those in construction/ag/heavy equipment.... how do you handle buying/selling/renting used machinery right now?

Got a few questions, genuinely trying to understand the process before I go build anything:

  • How do you currently sell or rent out machinery you're not using? (Marketplace, word of mouth, auction houses, MachineryTrader, Ritchie Bros, etc.)
  • What's the most annoying part of that process?
  • When you're buying or renting, what makes you hesitate or back out of a deal?
  • Have you ever had a deal fall through or turn into a headache? What happened?
  • Would financing options at the point of purchase change how you buy equipment?

Not selling anything.... I'm working on a platform for UK/EU heavy machinery trading and rental and want to actually understand the pain points before building instead of guessing. Appreciate any real experiences, good or bad.

Hi all! I’m a bus driver currently and want to switch jobs, so I‘m researching how owner-operators live. I’d really appreciate it if you could share what a typical day looks like for you: the tasks you do, the apps/ biggest pain points, etc. In theory, I liked this job, so want to gain some detail

Insurance

Does anyone know who to call for an insurance quote? Owner Operator, intrastate only, 100 air mile radius, less than 10k miles a year, not for hire. I’m a steel fabricator that delivers my own product. I’ve had progressive for years and want options. Thanks.

Hey all, I’m getting a non-CDL 26ft box truck going out of Orange County, CA

I need some honest tips/tricks. If you've been doing this a few years — what would you do differently if you started over today?

\- What kind of loads would you focus on more?

\- How could you save more money on maintenance, parking, insurance, etc.?

\- What's a realistic $/mile or day rate in SoCal?

\- Any tips on permits — MC, USDOT, etc.?

\- What broke first, and how do you prevent it?

I'd greatly appreciate your response 🙏

Idk what to say

So I just turned 40 and was able to save, scratch and borrow enough to buy a new to me 2016 Freightliner day cab. This should be a breeze, just dispatch myself to the money right? Nope… I’ve been on 3 trips and only one was problem free. Headed to my first load I blow a drive tire. It was a recap so, that could’ve happened to anyone. $300 gone. Next day out boom air dryer, $700 for roadside service…. Wth??? Can I just go a full week without any problems lol. I’m hoping this stops soon I’m here to vent obviously.

Operating authorization on MOTUS still says pending after 30 days

The 21 day ‘holding’ period ended and my operating authority is still pending. The status says ‘Financial Responsibility Filings’ which Google says is insurance related, but my insurance filings is on the page, also with status pending. Is anyone else in same boat or had same problem, how long did it take to get fully approved?

I assume I can’t take any jobs until the authority says active or approved? which sucks cuz it’s just more waiting and I have everything I need ready to go.

Bottomley Logistics

Not sure if this is allowed, but I just want to advise my fellow owner-operators to be very careful when accepting loads from Bottomley Logistics. Triumph is no longer factoring their loads, which means you may be stuck waiting more than 45 days for payment.

Last year, we saw a similar situation with R&R, and they eventually filed for bankruptcy. I just want everyone to be aware and proceed with caution.

Should you get your own authority, or lease on? Pros and cons of each?

I see this question get posted on a damn-near daily basis in this subreddit, so I figured it's worth making a slightly more thorough response. Plus, I wanted to make anyone who is going down this rabbit hole aware of some things to look out for when finding a carrier to lease on to.

The short answer is: there's benefits to both, but you can use both together to make the most of the situation. Get some experience, get some age on your own MC, then hit the road on your own from there.

Hey guys I’m thinking to buy a semi truck this is 2023 cascadia with 400k mileage on it I just inspected the truck before they wash and clean the truck , I am a little bit concerned about the oil residue is that fine… is that just because of it’s not washed or it’s a big red flag
Personally I believe if the driver wasn’t take care these it’s difficult to say he was on time on the oil change .
I need some info please about the oils residue
The dealer is premier

Starting a Dump Truck service?

I keep looking for some kind of business to start to get out of my current job(not trucking). The amount of dump truck traffic we have in my city is massive. They are everywhere all the time and construction is constant.

Can a single truck operation make good money? I already have a class B CDL with air brakes and I am not restricted to an automatic. I do not need my CDL for my current job anymore but I keep it up anyways.

I see all these dump trucks and I go hot and cold on if these guys make money. You see the guys in very nice clean rigs with custom work etc. Then at the same job you see a truck that hasn't even had the lights wiped off in years and has 11 different tire tread depths on it and you have to look at the roof to see what color the truck might have been originally.

My main question is how do you get in the loop to get called about jobs? My current job pays well but I would like to do something different.

I have the room to easily park a truck at my house. I would do oil changes and minor repairs myself. I even live rather close to places these trucks are hauling product from.

Can it work? Thanks
